Fantastic card, playing BF3 at ultra settings everything was brilliant, then after about an hour I hear a click and the screen goes blank :(
Restarted the pc and everything is powering up, but no display, fans on the card are spinning but no output.
I carefully removed the card and installed my old ATI XT2900 and everything is well again.
I then removed the AMD drivers and reinstalled my GTX 480, and all is ok.
Am I really this unlucky.
Help.

yea your card is ****ed..... something went pop

I have never had a graphics card do this before.
It was all on stock settings, no overclocking.
Temps were about 15 degrees cooler than my GTX 480.
I have an old pc that has a Enermax 620 watt psu in it, I will try the 7970 in that to confirm the cards faulty.
Am I right in thinking 620 watts is enough to power a 7970 ?
Has anyone had a new graphics card work for a while and then just go pop ?

Well I have tried the 7970 in the other pc and the same thing happened, ie fans spinning but no output, put the ATI 2900xt back in and all is well.
Looks like I have a very sick card.
Whats the best way to contact Overclockers to get it RMA'd ?
Should I swap it for the same and take the risk, or change it for a different brand ?

I would say it was more bad luck than a problem with that particular model/brand. I would just get the same again unless you desperately don't want to for some reason.

Post in the customer service section or give them a phone mate.

Pain in the ass - but they should sort you out fairly quickly.

Thanks mate, Think I will just swap it for the same, well one that works anyway (hopefully)

it's just the way it is, the key now is to get a quick RMA, but it took me ages.... because i didn't buy the card from here, a big big mistake.

I always buy my components from overclockers because their service has been flawless for me.
Hopefully they will get this sorted asap for me.
Does anyone know if they send out a replacement and then the courier takes the faulty item ? I hope that is the way they do it, otherwise it will take ages if I have to post the faulty card and then wait for a replacement, plus it will cost me postage.

yes i got everything from here..... except the bloody card, sods law it blew and took 10 weeks to replace, yes i couldn't game for 10 long weeks!!!!!

I think you'll send it in - they'll test it.

If found to be faulty, then a new card will be sent out.

A way to get around this is to order the same card again - if you have the funds. Send the faulty card in, then when found to be faulty get a refund for it.

I done this when they sent me the wrong part. Instead of me waiting for them to receive it, process it, send a new one - I ordered it again and got a refund when they received it.

I have to disagree with "Sods Law", It was you over volting that blew the card.

HD 7970s are nice cards if I was in your shoes I might be tempted to try a different brand of HD 7970 (Just in case its a faulty batch).
