My first hour with my VTX 7970

HD 7970s are nice cards if I was in your shoes I might be tempted to try a different brand of HD 7970 (Just in case its a faulty batch).

That's a good point, I have posted on the customer section of the forum, but I will give them a call on Monday.
I will ask if they have had any other VTX's go kaput.

i have a VTX 7970 the OC'd version and it has been fine bar the AMD drivers going funny when I first got it. Just pure bad luck I think

I always buy my components from overclockers because their service has been flawless for me.
Hopefully they will get this sorted asap for me.
Does anyone know if they send out a replacement and then the courier takes the faulty item ? I hope that is the way they do it, otherwise it will take ages if I have to post the faulty card and then wait for a replacement, plus it will cost me postage.

The same thing happened to my card and i had to send it back for testing, when they've confirmed it is faulty they authorised my refund. If you are getting a replacement they will send it out when they've determined it is faulty and they will also reimburse you the postage.

The best RMA service I've ever has was from Sony with the Playstation 1.

It died, I phoned. The next day a courier came with a brand new unit for me and took the old one away!!! First class.

Unfortunately PC components are slightly different.

I have only had one faulty card over the years. I sent it to OCUK on a monday and had my replacement by friday i think. I was very impressed by there rma process as i had heard nightmares about rmaing hardware. Since then i buy everything from here.

I had a VTX 7950 a few weeks ago which arrived faulty, sent the card back for a refund and bought the Asus top 7950 which died after a few days due to a short. Went to the green side after my rma woes. There must be a fair few amd returns. :(

mine was tested first too, but had to wait in a queue that was 8 weeks long, i eventually got mine replaced in 10 weeks, i had to wait along with all the faulty washing machines/ hoovers etc :D

the company i brought from is run by a bunch of Pakistanis from Bolton :D

it also wasn't replaced from stock !!!!!.... the card was retested in Europe and a replacement sent from there.

Just a quick update.
Posted the card off on Monday, received a webnote yesterday stating that the card is going to be replaced.
Got a webnote this morning to say that my new card has been shipped, so will be with me tomorrow.
Now that is what I call service.
I hope this one is going to be ok.
I wonder if I will get my haribo this time ? lol.

yes, the company begins with B and ends in M with the word `International` after it, they're actually very good, but very slow at RMAing all their stuff :(

you'll be ok with a pc case off them, or a cooler/Mobo, but not something as delicate as a high end graphics card, because over the last 10 years the only thing to ever go bust is a graphics card, about 5 times, after this is the PSU, but even this lasted 3 years.

i cant understand why the mobo is so damned strong, yet the card so weak, most odd.
