My First House

They were just useless when we were trying to buy one through them a few years ago, to cut a short story shorter the sale eventually fell through which I attribute to them.

Whilst only a minor thing they also held up a recent part ex valuation on our place by taking ages to get their valuation through to the developer, but to be fair to them they've given a decent value for ours that I'm more than happy with.

Unlucky. Dont get emotionally attached to property that is not yet yours.

Things happen for a reason - it was not meant to be!

Indeed. The only reason we went for this house is because we pretty much fell in love with it.
It's hard to find a house you want to buy without getting emotionally attached to it, in fact, you don't really want to buy a house that you're not.

Very annoying! we were close to loosing our house as they put it back on the market even though they had accepted the offer.

Is there anything else in the area?

p.s. crazy high prices you have down there!!!!!

Nope, nothing. Have been scouring rightmove and other such sites and there isn't anything worth viewing at the moment...

I agree, it looked like a nice house, hopefully you will be able to find a similar/even better one soon. I hope you didn't lose any money on the house.

We haven't paid any money out yet, well, only on getting our flat on the market, which needs to happen regardless. So no money wasted.

That's true.

When we bought ours we knew straight away that it was the right house for us. But up until the point where we exchanged contracts I always tried to keep a concious thought in my mind that at any moment the whole thing could come crashing down.

Have you considered selling your existing place without buying and just renting while you house hunt? It give you the advantage of being able to buy as soon as the new mortgage goes through.

Just lost the house.
Someone's sniped the purchase. I'm rather ****** off right now..

Unlucky :( As I said earlier in the thread though, estate agents aren't to be trusted.

Well, there aren't that many advantages as you'll be tied into a rental contract and have to fork out extra money in fees - that could be put towards the new place.

Depends if moving back in with the parents is an option? It seems to be the way most people do it now. Sell up when you can, move back home (bringing your family with you) then jump on a house you like with no ties.

That's our contingency plan, so that if our house purchase falls through then we can still proceed with the sale of our place. I would hate to be there for long though :o

We are in a similar position, Flat on the market but wont be committing to any purchase until ours is sold. I understand your frustrations as we have seen at least 4 properties that are 'the one' but have all gone under offer.

Good Luck and remember everything happens for a reason :)

Cheers :)

My girlfriend and i have agreed that we won't view anymore houses at all until we've found a buyer for the flat, there's just no point. She got quite upset when we lost the other house, she got excited and furnished it all in her head.

We came to this conclusion too after finding a couple of properties that we really liked, but were sold before we were in a position to buy.

On the plus side though, we now have a buyer for our house and the house we have had our offer accepted on is better than any of the others we saw earlier :)
