Patch panel tidiness has a halflife, you should take another photo in 4 weeks time, another in a few months...

Red = Servers?
Yellow = Data/PCs
Blue = VoIP?
Grey = Printer?

yellow = phone - not voip yet :)
blue = data
red = servers
grey = isdn + some servers that are direct lines

will do :D

That patch panel looks familiar ;)

Good job on it, looks a hell of a lot better than it did at the beginning of the week! Next up is the server cab *shudder*

oh noes !!!!! :eek:

Good work - guessing your on a placement year?

you are correct sir !

Beginning to wish I took pictures of mine, the whole building terminates centrally, so the patch cab is a full height 42U rack. It's all CAT6 too which was a PITA because its not as flexible as CAT5.

Some numpty thought it would be a good idea to feed each cable through the holes to the back, down the back of the rac, then out the hole at the bottom to the switch - making tracing cables nearly impossible...

oh I had to do that for my summer job track cables one day omg it was unreal the guy had like odd amounts of cables coming down from the server room then row upon row of switches, spidering about feeding in and out on the floor it was shockingly bad and next to near 6 mins on average to log in I think i got rid of like 6 *8port switchs and god knows how much cable when we installed the patch panel
