My first RWD and turbo car

Lotus cars had nothing to do with the engine.

By your logic I guess the Elise has self cleaning paint too ? (Lotus leaf if you didn't pick up on the link)

The VX220 is more Lotus than the Elise :)

Before I say this I wanna point out that I don't hate the VX220, I think its a good car but not my cup of tea.

The VX220 may be more Lotus than Vauxhall, in the same way the Dodge stealth is more Mitsibishi than Dodge, or the way the Rover 45 is more Honda than Rover. But the fact remains that it has the same problem as the other cars I mentioned do it looks more Vauxhall than Lotus.

In some markets it was sold as a Daewoo Speedster and I doubt anybody stopped and said "looks more like a Lotus". If I was choosing between the Elise and VX220 I would choose the Elise straight off entirely on looks the VX220 looks like a Vauxhall and that alone is enough to make it undesirable in my view. Lets not forget that Lotus wanted it to have 16" front wheels and Vauxhall opted for 17's instead for aesthetic purposes.

Nice car but not my cup of tea, because its a Vauxhall.

FLOL right ok. /facepalm

Read the post then comment on it instead of taking out of context quotes and commenting on them /Facepalm

Heres a hint, I was saying its a nice car (it is) but that its not my thing (it isn't) because regardless or who did the internal bits it visually looks like a Vauxhall and I don't like Vauxhall aesthetics.

No it wasn't.

I'm sure if the Elise was the same price, most people would buy the Elise. But considering a NA VX220 is significantly cheaper for what is essentially the same car, it seems to be like the VX is the thinking mans option.

I personally prefer the looks of the VX - it looks more agressive and tends to receive a hell of a lot more attention in my experience.

Do love these... you wouldn't believe how many times I asked the vauxhall dealer to find me one of these. After asking for about a year they didn't so I bought something different. Do still want one at some point though. :)

Yes it was, Vauxhall VX440 in the UK, Opel Speedster in the rest of Europe and Daewoo speedster in Asia.

Well duh

But its not essentially the same car is it, forgetting the engines its visually a completely different car and one that isn't visually in the Elise's league, it just looks cheaper, hell it looks more like a Vectra than an Elise..

On your basis a 2004 MG ZS and a 1992 Honda Domani are essentially the same car as they just have different engines and are styled differently inside and out (in case you don't know and assume im taking the mick with this example these two are the same car with the changes noted).

Its cheaper because it doesn't look as good and doesn't have as good a badge on it...
