Yeah it is a pain but I can do a few more things while im there. I'm uprating the intercooler so I can run higher boost for longer. I have an incar Turbosmart boost controller and Emerald management that I can set up as I wish on my laptop. 280bhp shouldnt be impossible with the set up I have. Im looking into using a MK4 Golf clutch pedal box I have as its a complete cotained unit and it will mount the cylinder on the inside of the car thus not taking up vital space in the engine bay.

Sorry if I missed it but what was the outcome with the seller of the borked engine??

Tried to contact him a few times but no luck :(

Put it down to experience I suppose.

Golf was taken back to the exhaust place today to fit an extra silencer, so maybe an update with pics on Monday!

Looking forward to the pics :)

My new FMIC, G60 clutch and SMF, MK4 Golf hydraulic pedal box and slave cylinder turned up today so things are moving on.

Weather has been awful here today so no pics. Extra silencer has been fitted to the system and it's a lot better. I'm going to add some sound proofing to the doors and rear panels and it should be spot on.

vwtechie, start a thread with loads of pics it would be good to see how someone else has done it :)

Little update:

The diff I ordered months ago finally turned up yesterday with a lovely £97 bill for import tax...

Will be taking it along with the gearbox down to Cardiff to be rebuilt in 2 weeks time, so it will hopefully be fitted for the next ring trip in September!

Can't wait to get the power down :D

Nice diff, how much did it set you back?

Are you running the 02A gearbox?

Yes I'm running an 02A box, ratios are a little short but the acceleration makes up for it! Diff was about £540 including import tax.

Any Updates

Rebuilt gearbox with the diff fitted is being picked up on Saturday. It will be fitted next week as I'm going to the Ring again on September the 7th.

Car will be given a thorough spanner check next week to ensure everything is ok befiore leaving!

A post with some work done!

As I'm going to the 'ring again a week Friday, it's time for the last minute prep work to start!

The to do list:

Fit new ATB diff equiped gear box
Fit lightened flywheel
Change oil and spark plugs
Fit new air filter
Lower front seats
Spanner check
Fit sexy new KW Variant 3 coilovers if they arrive in time :D (ordered today)

Car was weighed today to ensure the correct spring rates were selected for the coilovers .

Total weight with a full tank of petrol was 1060Kg with a front rear weight distribution of 62/38%.

Reasonably happy with that figure. The back seat, spare wheel and some tools were in at the time.

The Golf has now got a new home for the next week as my garage has a mk3 Golf waiting for a 20V turbo engine in it. A friend has let me use his super shed to do the work.

This is what 3000 miles of abuse does to lovely clean components!

Another update tomorrow night!

I am in awe. Particularily of the wiring looms :D What are you using to tape those up? I've always used self amalgamating tape myself, it;s very effective but bulky and it looks like ****, so blatantly DIYd.
