Nuther sub added - this project is very close to my heart.

Got my mk2 16V producing 200 bhp using a passat 2l engine and some wild cams. Was a great fun ride but all the power came in at a very narrow band at the top end - really wished I had gone down the turbo route !!

Ordered it over the web a long time ago, it was purchased to make a heat shield for my scooby. Came in a box of 5 sheets, I had 4 left over. I'll see if I can find the delivery note.

Sounds like fun :) What suspension and brakes are you running?
 
Did a few hours this morning

Gave all the bare metal a quick coat of primer to protect it. I was concerned about the pipe routing into the 'air box' I made. The plan was to run the pipe into the side where the circle is. It's always a good idea to keep pipework as straight as possible so I decided to relocate the washer bottle to run the pipework into the back of the 'air box'.

Only spare room under the bonnet is now where the old air box was near the new battery location

Made a quick bracket out of an offcut of ally plate and attached it to the inner wing

Battery was too far forward and there wasn't enough room for the headlamp! Had to modify the battery tray to move it back towards the washer bottle

All in place and just enough space for the connector!

Not much done over the past day

Leon engine is now on the stand. Plans are to remove all the stuff I dont need and paint the block.

I've also spent a few hours going through wiring diagrams etc to work out whats needs to be extended after moving stuff around in the engine bay.

Has anyone any suggestions where I can get some rubber edging/trim to put on the heat shield I made for the air filter?

Remember the window I had in my Lian-Li? I used rubber blowhole moulding for that, from the usual electrical factor IIRC.

Depending on if you want to order it online or not. A lot of computer shops online sell "blowhole trim" which is exactly what you need, a thin rubber edging that is primarily used to edge around home-cut fan holes for cases :)

Cheap too at around 60p/metre.

Sorry too lazy to read the lot, what engine is going in that, surly not a 20v turbo? LOL if so heres some stars! Nice build anyway. Looking great ;)

Will it fit over 2mm thick sheet?
 
Should do yes, admittedly the parts I have it on are 1.5mm, but prising it over another .5 of a mm shouldn't be a problem.
 
Look what I found on my old PC case! Fits nicely on the alloy sheet :)

Does anyone know of a car that has an airbox on the passenger side with about 250bhp as standard? Needs to fit in this area!

Bit late in the day but a Rover Ti airbox looks about right.

I've seen them in >250 BHP cars with various panel filters inside (seem to do a fine job). Not too big either, but plenty of flow.
