My GSYNC experiences

Update

Having watched a few videos and films using gsync, the earlier concerns I had in regards to 24 frame footage is thankfully not an issue. I didn't have any motion or refresh rate issues at all with videos.

I have encountered an issue in regards to world of warcraft. If you try and change the antialiasing mode with gsync enabled, it crashes the game immediately. This is 100% reproducible on my setup and doesn't happen with gsync disabled.

Some games will not work as Nvidia states and I assume some will get updates to work.

The PIA issue is the games hardcapped to X FPS though most can be hacked in .ini files.

See, I'm very interested in trying something like this... off I go to do some research.

Well, firstly I have to buy an NVidia card - which at the moment means paying quite a premium over the 290/290X for the same performance.

Then you need a supporting monitor - of which there is one - and it's a 24" TN Film screen for £270! I'd struggle to justify that price on an IPS model.

You won't be seeing a 144hz 1ms IPS panel anytime soon though.

Since when is a single AMD card faster than 780Ti a overall Tute?

The 780Ti is the faster Single GPU card but yes cost may not be worth it to some.

Gutting, really. As good as GSync sounds, there's no way I could go back to TN.

Jh30uk, there's nothing I said that isn't true. Compared to their AMD counterparts, the NVidia cards are very poor value for money. Now, if you want to buy one, more power to you, but I prefer to get as much performance for my £££ as I can.

You did not, you asked a question and got a reply.

I highlighted your post so you can see why I replied with what I did as it had to be that Nvidia GPU none lower and yes £100ish more or so.

The price of the screen is what bothers me the most though, way way more than the price of the cards.

I honestly think £270 for a 24" TN screen is a crime, GSync or not. I really would like this tech to take off, but at that price it's just going to stifle it. :(

This is unfortunately the issue with stuff nVidia does, they get greedy and slap silly prices on things, because they seemingly can only see for a very short distance. The key to getting people and companies to pick up G-Sync would be to make it cost effective to implement. When they're charging $200 for the board, it makes it cost prohibitive to people, and also annoys some too, because really there isn't anywhere near $200 worth of anything in the hardware, they are just price gouging. I would be surprised if it cost any more than $10 to make. Sure there's R&D costs too, but that shouldn't account for the rest of the cost.

Funny how a 295x2 is now called a single card, the fact it has x2 in the name means times 2 because its a dual gpu card.

So tell me how a 295X2 isn't a single card? It has 2 GPUs, sure, but it's a single card that slots in to a single slot. It isn't 2 cards, it's one. That's what "single card" actually means.

It is called Trolling Ian.

You need to educate yourself on what trolling is. Trolling isn't people correcting you when you're wrong.
