My hair transplant journey

I honestly can’t think of any professional or social setting where people would care about someone being bald. You might get some mates taking the **** for the first few months but outside of that it just seems weird that people would care about something so common.
I get that view and from trawling r/tressless over the last two years, there's always been two polar opposite schools of thought on this dilemma: the "just shave it and hit the gym bro" people, and the "rescue it with meds and get an HT" people.

There's no right answer but what I will say is, I now at least have a choice about whether to shave it or grow it.

Had a HT last year, always had thin hair but not massively losing it. Did it as I couldn’t believe how cheap it was in Turkey, to the point of it being “worth it for a laugh” territory.

The wiry hair will stop after about a year when you’ve had a couple of trims.

Biggest shock I had from the whole experience, is that despite being a guy with big ears, I was genuinely shocked at how much I didn’t mind being bald :p an expensive way to discover that for sure :D

Was it not mega painful at the same as being an expensive hit though?

When they shaved my head just before the HT, I said to the technicians that it looks good, I might leave it like that, and I was only semi joking.

My view on this - and I don't consider myself a wimp or someone with a low pain threshold - is that it was a lot, lot more painful than I thought it would be from others' comments online.

Any comments saying it was bad I put down to the person being a bit of a wimp, but, and I've experienced some profound pain in my time from a leg that was all kinds of broken in a motorcyle RTC, it shocked me a bit. Maybe it's my physiology or I'm a wimp too, but the anaesthetic injections were naaasty.

it was £1500 plus flights and a some food. £2000 total potentially. Your own personal circumstances will dictate whether that’s expensive for you or not.

The pain? Eh, the anaesthetic injections were painful, no doubt about that. The harvesting from the donor site, I actually fell asleep during :p second set of anaesthetic injections for the transplant site were considerably more painful, then just boring/uncomfortable due to lying down for so long.

Lol yes it is a bit whispy. Hoping that calms down but if not, I tried shaving my head and whilst I liked it, I won't go into details it didn't go down well in my professional and social circles.

Well, in all seriousness if it has given you some confidence back then it was money well spent, I wouldnt savour going bald but it looks like I got lucky, i'm going gray rapidly though but that's life!

10 days in and I need to clean the plantatiin area. Problem is the scabs are still very hard and dark in colour. Ive tried wetting the area with warm water then rubbing back and forth with the tips of my finger. Some of the scabs fall of but some are being very stubborn.

Any tips?

If they're not quite ready just leave them and try again tomorrow, don't be too rough. They'll come off when they're ready.

I was given a foam solution to let soak in to the top of my head to loosen the scabs. But yeah don’t rush them, otherwise you run the risk of pulling the new follicles out.

Yes I've seen this on YouTube but I never got one. I have shampoo and serum for the diner parts. Also a multivitamin I have to take once a day.

I'm gonna try again tomorrow when it's my first time washing my hair in the shower using their shampoo

for the ops that recently had the surgery, How many grafts did you have done and are you now on Finasteride and minoxidil for life ? is that a mandatory requirement ?

I am also considering the options but would prefer to stay within the UK, but if the UK is 2.5x more than Turkey or Hungry then is the UK service actually worth the extra £££

Please can you post here the details of the clinics and consultants used or PM

Thank you

Just about 7 months post transplant now...should be the start of the real improvements over the next few months. There are loads more hairs sprouting through now, so whilst I'm already very happy compared to before, it should keep improving for a while yet.

Before, March 2021:

Now, transplant + 7 months and 2 years of meds:

Has it made the places with grey hair change to brown hair ?

As in the first picture the hair looks much lighter or grey
