My local Morrison's changes

Morrisons actually refit their stores.

Tescos and sainsburys just move them round, I refit the store I used to work in, aside from nearly killing me due to horrifically long night hours and really intense manual labour, it basically was no different afterwards.

Yeah we are refitting. Not moving things around. I wish I had some pics of my fish dept before it went all modern and updated. There has been loads of work this last few weeks at Derby. It looks really good at the moment. Be even better once its all complete. My GM is trying not to get stressed out bless her. I am sure us managers can make sure it all works and runs smoothly.

Went down today. Awesome changes. It's like walking into a Spanish market or something.

Fresh herbs are lined up with a gentle misting system keeping them fresh, all manners of different fruits, vegetables and chillies from around the world, with each one explaining what country it's from and how it's best used.

The deli counter now has a large range of cured meats hanging from hooks. Again, like a continental market.

Brilliant changes. Well done Morrison's.

The one in Norwich is like this... well the herbs, I didn't make it to the deli unfortunately :(

It's also some way from me :(

Does anybody know if the one in Stone has all this fancy, updated stuff?

That's the nearest one to me (Stafford)

The Derby store will be completed this coming weekend. Closed for one day next week, Monday and reopen on Tuesday 8am. Its looking pretty good so far. A few little nags to iron out so to speak but its coming together nicely. The major work is Produce and the grocery aisles which is being done on Sunday/Monday. 400 workers will be in store through out the weekend to carry out the remaining work load. Takes some organising I can tell you.

I am off this week to recuperate before the big rush. Back in on Monday for a few hours to get prep work done for Tuesday morning. Might even pop in Sunday for a few hours. If you're around Derby next week, pop in and have a look.

My store in Derby is getting the upgrade in August. The Gamston store other side of Nottingham has been done and nicked pretty much all of our staff to cope with the HUGE increase in customers and sales. Only down side to ours getting the full revamp is I am not getting a new Fish counter. There has been issues with the new style/design in the other Stores of the Future and they are trailing out a new one in other new/revamped stores and once it gets the go a head I will have it installed.

The new look SOTF are actually amazing. The layout, ambient atmosphere, the look and variety of goods for sale is top notch. Its amazing the fact my store is going on for 20 years old and is looking like it too in places and over the course of the revamp will look like its a new store pretty much. The total revamp in August will start 4pm Sunday once we close and we will re open on the Tuesday at 9am. That small amount of time to re do the whole store is mind boggling, 2 days pretty much.

I still remember people saying that the Morrisons in Meteor Centre won't run as its too far when it first opened. Now look at it, always full of customers and always a 5+ person queue.

I went in to work to day to get ready for the reopening tomorrow morning. I must say it's looking very nice indeed. I can't wait to go in tomorrow morning to see what its all like once its filled up. Plenty of workers there today and even more filling up the fixtures. All being well I will get some pics once I am set up and before we are open.

I was on a course and I met a woman from a sea food company and she said a morrisons always have the best fresh fish and the quality of the ready meals this company make for Morrisons is to a higher standard than for other supermarkets. Its similar for their meet.

I prefer Morrisons to the other supermarkets except Waitrose, but the nearest Waitrose is around 15 miles away and I cba to make the trip regulary. Roll on Morrisons updating my local store.

Had a Sean Connery when I looked at the prices

I work part time in a Morrisons and would like to increase my hours so I can buy a house and move back into the town and put my degree to better use but because of all these store refits they can't increas any hours but can hire more staff that have more hours than me in the same department :(

The one in Reading is getting a refit right now. Got some vouchers from them to spend once it is complete. Missus is happy as the cake section appears to have been doubled in size already. Will report back once it is complete.
