my new 2070 Super giving same performance as my old rx580?

Yeah I spawn in about 70odd but the rest is about the same as yours and that with my 2080. My 1800x doesn't cut it and as someone said earlier, D2 isn't very good with 1st and 2nd gen Ryzen. Start up a heroic mission and see what you get then, should go up because you're in your own instance and its not so hard on the cpu.

Edit yes 1440p max settings

@jpm i tried it and got average of about 120fps it was mainly and inside mission though.
think im turning into an FPS junkie so to speak im not a professional competitive player so don't really need 144fps although it would be nice my CPU is holding me back :/

I have 2 options

Either buy a 360mm AIO and overclock my 1700 to 3.9ghz and have that chip for the next year or so until the 4000 Series are released

or

Sell my 1700 and Save up another 100 pounds over the next Month or 2 and Buy a 3600X but then can't get a 4000 Series chip for 2 years

Also Borderlands 3 is released in September and will be one of my new most played games and is meant to be Optimised for Ryzen ships

I Overclocked my 1800x to 3.9 and tbh with you I wasn't get much difference if any than what I'm getting at stock.

Thinking about going down the 3900x route :) So maybe get the 3600x and hopefully it will be a better for you.

Personally, I had my [email protected] on air. It was a Noctua NH-D15. You should be able to get to 3.9 on half decent air cooler? Hell, I could even run 3.8 on auto volts, and that was fine!

Other thing to do, if you have G.Skill B-Dies, you really want to get 3200 C14, for me that was the sweet spot! My old 1700 could do it, but it may depend on your IMC. Have a play with 1usmus' Ryzen DRAM calculator.

Also disable SMT, that can be worth a boost in some games, I found generally better for gaming with SMT off.

Just my tupence worth :D

Edit, just had a look at your RAM timings, they seem very loose. Do you have B-die kit? If so, you should be able to do a lot better, and Ryzen really loves tighter timings! All this will help your FPS a little.

Don't spend a lot of money trying to get more out of that CPU. I thought you were on about a £30 cooler or something.

A 360mm AIO will cost too much for that idea so better to save that money, sell your 1700 for approx £80 or so and purchase a 3600 or 3600X.

@djbully i ran the dram calculatator and then entered all the correct info into my Bios then saved it as a profile but when i save and exit and boot into windows they all go back to stock timings?

Ive tried clearing the Cmos same thing happens

@Dave2150 you sound like someone that either owns a 2070 and is mad about nvidia releasing The Super version for same price or are a AMD fanboy either way the 2070 Super is great value for money tbh when you consider you get 2080 performance for a lot less money :)

I disagree, it’s not good value with yesterday’s performance but only 8GB. 1080ti is he last good value card NV made, 11GB VRAM is much more beneficial.

11GB is more beneficial at higher resolutions but i game at 1080p Ultrawide so 8gb is plenty plus the 2070 Super is Faster than a 1080 ti and if i was to buy a 1080 ti i get no warranty 4 years warranty with my card :)
