My new 330d

Very nice but someone has gone and stuck an extra set of doors on it than it should have. :p

The original owner may have choosen silver when it was first ordered, I know that's one of the things you can change.

But if it has had all those bits replaced best make sure it has been an sort of serious accident.

I think he did chose the silver, or "titanium" that it is according to someone over at BMWland. :)

1 day to go! :D

Have you picked it up yet mate?

I fitted my Sony Sound on Top amp today - makes a world of difference for very little money, and it's easy to fit too - highly recommended!

Nice :D. Am I right in thinking it's got the Sat-Nav unit (with the TV). If so can you take a picture of it for me, I was thinking of retro-fitting one to mine.

No its sat nav without the tv Im afraid. Its only voice instructions.

I have to decide what to do about the stereo - I dont even have a cd changer fitted at the moment! Im digging out some old cassettes just so I dont have to put up with Radio 1! lol....

Lol :D. I think a CD changer will be quite cheap off fleabay. I also think the wiring loom should be in the boot ready for you to just plug it in - you might want to double check this though.

If your head unit has a "mode" button under the AM/FM buttons, you should be able to just plug the changer in.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it will fit straight in with no problems. Im thinking of getting the more expensive Alpine one - hopefully with a better sound!

In the long term I might go the whole hog and spend ~£1000 on a decent install of some sort. I would like it to be OEM-style though. We'll see. :)

Be careful, it can become an expensive upgrade (well so I'm learning). :( :p

If you want to keep it OEM looking it's still possible, I viewed a rather nice e46 the other day that had a complete ICE install, replacement speakers, subs, amps, changer but was still running off a standard business radio unit.

Due to where the car gets parked during the day etc the owner decided against putting in a flash headunit but the actual system itself sounded very impressive.

Out of interest, how do you enter your journey information into the sat nav? Does it recognise postcodes when spoken to? Does your car have any other voice operated features?

Mine has the button on the steering wheel, but I don't think it does anything.

There is a little joystick thing to enter postcodes. I dont think it has voice recognition.

The only voice features is of course the carphone - but the handset is missing. Basically, pretty useless!

Joe, I dont understand what you mean about the grill. are you talking about the kidney grills on the bonnet!? The 330ds didn't have any 'special' grill!

Lovely car, you'll enjoy it no end. Like Nick, any problems, in any area with this car (from stereo to mechanics and injectors) let me know, I should be able to help.

Also, small tip, if you have no changer in the back yet, get the mp3 Alpine changer off the 'bay.Make sure it comes with the soundlink adapter (or get the Intravention unit) as mentioned to Nick. You'll then be able to use you mp3 discs in the changer....

HTH

Ive just this minute ordered the Alpine changer from the 'bay. I didnt get the mp3 one, as I dont think I would use that feature.

The problem with the grill, so I'm told, is that the vertical bars inside the kidneys should be chrome on a 330d (like Nick's) rather than the black on mine. I'm not really bothered tho tbh. :)

Thanks for your help. :)

No, they shouldn't. BMW didnt offer this, its a common (bling upgrade) amongst a certain 'group of people' shall we say... so dont worry about it...

Hi there

Sweet ride, always liked the BMW 330D's very underated cars that will leave most high powered petrol cars standing. :)

Ah, that conflicts with what I was told elsewhere. I'm not bothered tho.

Thanks for your advice. :)

Can you advise me where you were told!? To my knowledge, they were only offered from the parts department and actually (for me) dont do anything for the looks of the car.....

They were not availbale as a buy option, and certainly didnt come standard on 330ds!

Joe, rectified.....i'm w00t100 btw! There are a few core believers, but having worked with BMW in the past, including the design of ETK and EPC catalogues, i'll happily help you out with anything else.
