Taking account of the tax and servicing/mot its more like £3600/£3700 but yep, completely agree better cars could probably be had. However, it is this car that I wanted

It's what they are are going for, so it's not a lot of money for an ST170. Dad sold his for the same money but it has slightly lower mileage and didn't have the leather recaros.

These massively fail the 'So what?' test for me. 25mpg tops and Group 16 insurance to drive a 2 litre Focus? No thanks.

It does nothing for me but I really do like the colour. How can a 170bhp car be group 16? That's not even warm hatch territory these days is it?

Plenty of cars with 170bhp are group 16 or higher. Clio 172, Xsara VTS and Rev3 SW20 MR2 spring to mind.

Yea the ST170 was completely underwhelming compared to a 172. Can't speak for the VTS
