My New pc

Heres my new build

CPU: Intel i7 3930k 3.2Ghz six cores
CPU cooler: Intel rts 2011 Liquid cooler
Motherboard: Asus pro Intel X79
Graphics card: Asus DirectCU II GTX580
Ram: G.skill 16GB 1600mhz
Solid State Drive (SSD): Crucial M4 128Gb
PC Case: Antex 1200
PSU coolmaster 1000W
24" 3D 120Hrz 1080p monitor

its brilliant

only slight thing is ive installed the graphics drivers but when im changing res i dont have an option to select 120hrz it just says 60hrz is that right? or should i be able to select it at 120hrz?

its the benq 24" 3D 120Hrz 1080p monitor and yes it does seem very good got it at a very good price as well

Whats the fan noise like on the intel cooler?
Which BenQ is it? 2410T?

But the big question is who is hidden underneath your mouse?

the fan noise is very quiet it only speeds up when you need it and i still dont here it i can turn all the fans up or down and even on max i cant imagine in a game it will distract me and on minimum its a very slight hummmm sound barely hear it over me typing

and its the XL2410T it says on the monitor

and the mouse mat is brill the best part is u rub her parts and they go see through

Yeah i got mine at a great price too :]

Just cant seem to alter the height of the monitor, the one in the shop lowered and highered with a little bit of force. Mine dosent for some reason

Loving that monitor. Been following that particular model for a while now. Nice to see it in a real worlf scenario as opposed to an advert/sale pic. I don't think OcUK stock it though.

I see then that you decided to bite the bullet and go for SB-E. Each to their own I suppose. Now, do some benchies and lets see how it really performs

just played a bit of skyrim and it was awsome on the monitor

what programs can i use to do benchmarks with? ive downloaded 3d mark 11 but its just the basic version

You need to use a dual link DVI cable for 120Hz.

I imagine one was supplied with the monitor.

If you're using an old DVI cable it probably isn't dual link.

ok im using a HDMI cable but yes i did get a dvi cable with the monitor would it be better to use the dvi then?

Yes, HDMI doesn't have the bandwidth to do 1080p res at 120Hz - that's why you're not getting the option in the Gfx ctrl panel.

It's better to use the DVI cable supplied with the monitor as that's how you'll get 120Hz.

Very nice PC by the way! I'm waiting for Ivy Bridge and the new Nvidia stuff next year, then I'll be getting something pretty similar. Think I'll go with Ivybridge as that'll be enough for me but I'm waiting to see how it compares to SB-E first.

Regarding benchmarking I think someone more experienced like Surveyor will no doubt have some ideas but might I suggest a program like SuperPi. Basically it's a free program that focusses on just the CPU itself and from what I gather, calculates Pi up to 32 million digits and records how long your CPU takes to get to that point.

Very good to see a before and after if you do plan to overclock your 3930k. One of the best tools for enthusiats.

For gaming purposes maybe try something like Fraps.

I was thinking of doing the same but i had no decent gaming rig anymore so i decided sandybridge e this will do me good for 5 years now lol

im not sure about overclocking yet ive never done it before i will def overclock it at some point but not sure straight away as doesnt it void the warrnty?

ok thanks will use the Dvi cable then i thought the HDMI cable would be able to do 120hrz im guessing not lol

Technically yes, but they'll never know unless you do something mad and burn out the processor and/or motherboard.

You can give the Heaven benchmark a whirl.

Use the settings in the thread below and you can compare your result to those in the first post:

ok will give that a go later im just trying to get everything to how i like it atm lol its all fun when installing your OS again takes ages to get everything back to how i like it
