My new weekend toy - Supra TT :-)

Don't know why but the 'face' reminds of the little moon aliens from Toy Story 1. :D

I used some thin sticky coloured paper behind the buttons to give some colour.

Uk calipers

As mentioned previously i bought some UK Big brakes and sent them off to be refurbed and painted, they came back...finished in the same colour as my car.

Booked a mechanic (supra owner) to fit them whilst I was at work, I will have a go at most things on my car but brakes is something I will leave to the experts...

Whilst the car was in the air I serviced it

It took him about 8 hours to finish the changing and bleeding plus full fluid change, and being a 20 year old car, he came across many issues but finally it was complete and time to fit the wheels on....Oh wait they didn't fit!

Lucky for me I suspected that they wouldn't (they were sold with spacers and I was told that they would fit over these brakes), and had a plan on what to do, I had a friend (buyer) for these wheels when my new ones arrive... Him and his brother (both supra owners) turned up to loan me their spares so I could get the car back in the garage and then the following day we agreed to swap my current wheels with my old wheels which I had on my car originally (which I sold), I knew these would fit. Anyway here are some pictures, these will be my winter wheels (no choice LOL)...

The blue one is a NA-T running 350bhp and the grey one is a face lift twin turbo running similar power to mine.

Mine next to an american car

Very nice, makes me miss mine, the interior was such an awesome place to be

Love the interior, feel like a pilot every time I drive it :)

Literally just about to post how I can't deal with those black and silver wheels and you changed them for something decent! :D

I had no choice really but these are perfect for the winter, they do need a refurb. Cant wait to get the new ones :)

May I ask how much the buttons were? The Climate control panel in my Celica is going the same way although not as bad as yours.

I got them from here http://www.amayama.com/, toyota wanted £91 and I got it from that website delivered for £40 however I got stung by import and it was around 68, still cheaper than toyota. Some people were fortunate not to pay the import tax though. They came really quick, basically you make an enquiry and someone sends you an email and your order appears on the website.

Not into cards at all, but the OP got me hooked and I just read the entire thread.. :D Lovely car and amazing work :)

cheers

hold on - you left the brakes to an "expert" who took 8 hours??

remember there is no ramp in my garage so it was all done on his back, and yes many things were seized on. Backing plates needed to be trimmed down etc. If I had done it, it would have taken me longer.

What's the running cost and reliability on these?

I'm guessing sub 30mpg? :p

Also: auto/manual turbo/non turbo?

I'm 25 and find it impossible to get insurance on these with only 1 years no claims and 1 year named. But I would consider one in the future if the costs for running are not obscene.

I get around 17 - 22mpg on mine, maybe a little better on longer journeys, it's not great on fuel but a lot of fun.

I have an auto and would deffinately have another but was a little skeptical at first. The 6 speed manuals do carry a premium, in my opinion it's not a premium worth paying for, certainly not £5000 odd over a same spec auto.

There is also a 5 speed box but it doesn't really like too much power, as a general rule BHP wise if you are looking at upgrades without any rebuilding of box parts...

5 Speed box - Around 400BHP max but some even die at this power
Auto - Up to around 550BHP max
6 Speed - Pretty much whatever you want, 1000+ not uncommon.

There are plenty on the forum around your age, all depends on where you live and how many miles. Im paying 550 with 5k miles but im 33, it was 400 last year but I had an accident (if you can call it that) in Jan in another car. I also declared more mods and upped the value to an agreed 13k (compared to 9k. Mine is a auto twin turbo aero top (they didn't make a aero TT6 only in the US).

As for MPG, I do not calculate it, I have a daily diesel so I know there is a difference, for example a journey that would cost me £20 in the Leon is almost double in the supra but its worth it especially when the weather is good and the roof is off and you can hear turbos spooling :)

August update

Nur Spec R exhaust has finally arrived from Japan after 6 weeks! Talk about over night parts from Japan LOL

I was very worried about the fit against my after market lip but it sits perfect compared to the previous exhaust. Fuel filter has also been changed at the same time..

Everytime I come into this thread I really really wish I was in the Supra scene, They're just beautiful fantastic things, Just can't justify paying 6k+ on a 20+ year old car, So instead spent £4800 on a 3L Z4, kinda the same :(

Also need a sound clip of that exhaust, Bet it sounds the nuts.

Its a big decision to make but worth it, nothing on the road comes close to it, in terms of looks without having to spend 20k +

I do have a video clip of it but its not on WOT, A friend wanted to know how it sounded with the BOV Delete :D, ill upload it tonight

Those rims.... very cool!

:D

Proper wheels at last, now it looks stunning :D

cheers :)

Looks amazing. I always think 95% of supras look awkward with aftermarket wheels, however you have just made the car look 'epic'. Them wheels are fantastic, complete the look of the car.
