My new weekend toy - Supra TT :-)

I hope we're talking motec for that price!

Its a syvecs, but they can be control to reduce the amount of torque going through the box at gear changes. Most of the traders on the forum are using their ECU. The only down side is that they cost a fortune and there are limited amount of tuners. There ECUs are used in cars from Focus RS to twin turbo Lambos etc

I have a Svecs S6 Plus here, with sensors, awaiting me popping it in a VVTi Tiptronic twin turbo Supra It will be intended to control the twin sequential turbos, the fly by wire throttle, the flappy paddle Tiptronic auto box, and all other engine functions like sequential 6 cylinder injection and coil on plug ignition. Plus it can run a digi dash by CAN BUS, read GPS and will read a load of other info like wide band Lambda and exhaust EGT's

£2500 is quite middle of the road for a good ECU swap these days. The above is FAR more than that in total.

Personally I prefer MOTEC and EFI Technology, but Syvecs have something of a niche market with Supra owners

what he said^

I'd just use the time honoured method of putting a (much cheaper) Power FC on it.

Name me some people who can do it for less?

Absolutely superb work on that engine bay and the car is looking immense. I love how a clean Supra still looks like a modern car on the road. Aged extremely well. :)

Thanks Gibbo. Not many modern cars do it for me at the moment and ive always liked the look and not many stock blocks are rated for big power...Have you got your super charger on yet? I haven't kept up with your thread, ill have to have a look for it later. :)

I need to update this,
IC will be straight soon, looking at a new core. I did attempt it myself but It was a 2 man job and mates are never around when I need them!

Update 03/04/2014

I installed a Greddy OLED boost controller that I bought from a supra member

On the 31st of March, I met some local supra members and the lad who helped me install the BC. We went on a private road to get some video footage of all our cars and just to see if the BC was working. We joined the private road and began lining up and put our foot down.... I got up to 1.2BAR and hit the speedo limiter at sillyMPH. As I let off I could hear a strange noise coming from what I thought was the charcoal cannister, we immediately pulled up to a safe place to investigate. The noise got worse as we pulled up, sounded like a bag of spanners in a washing machine:blink:

After further investigation we found out it was the crank pulley had broken?? By feeling it.....We decided to get the car recovered rather than drive it home...

I have managed to take some videos of it this weekend and pictures below

The crank pulley, timing belt was replaced under 2 years ago with a new after market replacement, I have only done less than 10k on this too and ragged the shizz outta the car too during that time.

Hopefully nothing major is damaged as a result of this, this weekend coming is my birthday and I had planned to take the car to santapod / dyno run with the Midlands supra members :(

You can see where it knocked onto making the noise I heard^^^

Bought an OEM crank Pulley, cam seals and a crank pulley seal thanks to TCB parts. They came a few days after....

OCUK-226.jpg

With the help of Iky and Ric, stripped the car removing the cam covers and replacing the cam seals and then moving onto the crank pulley. We didn't attempt to change the crank seal as its a pain to do and did not have the correct tools to put it back.

OCUK-227.jpg

Picked up a timing belt lower cover from toyota to replace the one that the crank tore into.

Managed to get everything back together and running on Saturday the 9th just in time for my birthday the following day, the initial plan was to go to the dyno day or fast show but the car wasn't even run to see if there were any other issues so decided to take the 60 mile trip to my mrs which it made :) and the following morning we decided to go to the lakes. The car seemed to be running well but I wasn't pushing the car as I didn't want it to break down so kept it under 1BAR where possible :d

Got to the lakes in one peace and when leaving the car park from Lunch managed to graze my front driver side rim on a kerb, I was paying too much attention not to graze the rears! :(

Here are some pics from the lakes, ill post a video once I get the time to edit parts.

Japfest 24th APR

I made it to japfest, we had a very early start at 4am and managed to get to Silverstone at 7am! luckily it gave us enough time to clean the cars as the roads were wet all the way down (whole day wasted cleaning the car the day prior) :(. I did the best I could do with what I had with me. Thanks to Ric for letting me borrow some of his cleaning stuff :)

Some what happy with my car now, its not perfect but Ill be holding off the modifications now till next year (if I can help myself) and just driving and enjoying the car and just tidying and STRAIGHTENING out bits

Pictures (we won best club stand :) )

Managed to get the car out and finally take the roof off for the first time this year! yes it was cold but the sun was out. Roll on summer!

Attended a Yorkshire Jap Car meet at squires in Leeds, it was very busy.... met some local supra owners and even some new owners.

Here are a few pictures of mine from the meet...

On the way back had a right blast, I was testing my BC which I was too afraid of using on the way to japfest LOL

Hit 1.3 bar, the car pulls like a train! a massive difference from 1.1 BAR, easily 400 horse power (dyno required to confirm)

Managed to leave a CLA45AMG for dead, his face was priceless :d

The crank pulley was an aftermarket I bought off a Supra breaker, he had sold "100s" so I saved myself £150+. Clearly not fit for purpose though, no one has ever seen one fail like that before.

That grey Supra is probably the nicest I've ever seen, it's perfect.

mmmmmkk, doubtful you would leave one of these for "dead", rapid cars, and if you did how did you manage to see the expression on his face while you were so far out in front? :p

I like the tuna here....

That is Rics, awesome motor. He is only in the country for 6 months so the car has only been out a handful of times.

Private 3 lane motorway type of road, and leading to a exit slip road and a set of traffic lights :) (I have go pro footage too). Standing start I admit I wouldn't get off the line as quick.

Car is looking great, bad news on the crank pulley, always best to stick with factory part there especially if it was balanced at factory to your engine.

Not supercharged yet, my plan is to buy a Whipple in black friday sales as the kit I want is around $8000, so if I can get 20-30% saving it is a considerable discount, this kit is then good for 650-1000BHP, but I shall be looking to start around 650 simply as I'd like to have power I can use. :)

I will be changing my crank pulley for the SC kit but will be using an ATI damper which is as heavy as stock if not heavier and cost like $500 but Ford and Whipple recommend it to reduce harmful harmonics.

The beauty is I can buy the base kit if need be ($7000) which is good for a UK 650 horses and then if I want more I can simply add the larger TB, dual fans, injectors, smaller pulley at a later date which takes it to around 750-800 horses for around $1500.

I shall be sticking with Whipples tune (less power) but is safe and has fancy software to reduce power in lower gears and a load of other options I can change on the fly in the ECU using their software and cable on my laptop. Of course custom tuning releases a lot of additional power but your then into 800-900 horsepower territory and you lose the safety features and that does not interest me. Drive ability, reliability and usable power are more important than a few more extra horses for bragging rights.

Hopefully see your car at a meet someday, you guys happen to live 100s of miles away though :(

Ohhh I'd like to see that :D

haha, my passenger was a 13 year old kid so he had the go pro at dash height, if its not too incriminating I might upload it.

Very nice car :) There is a white one around here which I often see (at the BP station believe it or not :p ) which always catches my eye. The Jap's definetly knew how to make great street cars back in the day.

Yes, shame there new stuff is not too great :( My spends a lot of time at the petrol station :(

I did see your supra at japfest! :) very clean!

the other two looked mint too.

Cheers fella, was you on any stands at JF?

I'm in love with the supras..... great job on rebuilding the supra man! well deserved on winning the club stand

Thanks Danny, 3 years its taken to get here LOL

Evening,
its been 6 months since I updated this thread.

I've been busy with my wedding which was in August and haven't had much time for the car. I have been driving it to the occasional local meet and managed to go to a few shows this year.

Recently I've pulled the car out to try and get some pictures for the annual supra calendar...

So being recently married im doing the normal grown up stuff like saving for a house :(

Sadly there wont be any extreme modifications :(

I have a list an arm long lol but I intend to do some essential maintenance before nice to have mods. High on the list is undersealing, tracking and sorting out the noises, which is either bushes or droplinks. The nice to haves will come closer to summer next year.

I plan to hopefully do the annual supra owners club road trip called "dragonball" next year, so my intention is to get the car comfortable for the 1000 mile+ journey across europe :)

Anyway here are some pictures I have recently taken for next years calendar, hopefully I get some votes.

That photoshopped picture is absolutely fantastic... :D

(So are all the others, but that one made me go "wow!")

Worried me there. I thought you were going to say she's being sold! (the car not the wife.) :p

LOL she has been hinting at it for a while...

I told her its a classic and it will increase in price, she seems to be ok with that excuse for now LOL I think once she goes on a few road trips with the car she will be hooked :)

I'll give you £3500 for it.

£3600 here. :p

The way the prices are going currently that will just about you buy the engine :D

Looking good dude, I bet one of those will make the calendar no problem

Like he said that wont even buy the engine, and have you seen how much carbon is under mine? :D

Cheers, a lot of folk are stepping up with their pictures, but the more photos you enter you have more of a chance :) I was in 3 main pictures this year :)

PLEASE sell this to Acme :p

I've already got a mad manual RWD LSD'd Jap car! :p

But this one is better... :D

Ive put about 10k into the car restoring it over the years, done a lot of the work myself too. Hopefully that time wont come...
