My new weekend toy - Supra TT :-)

Oh wow.....
That looks stunning!

;)

Everytime I come into this thread I really really wish I was in the Supra scene, They're just beautiful fantastic things, Just can't justify paying 6k+ on a 20+ year old car, So instead spent £4800 on a 3L Z4, kinda the same :(

Also need a sound clip of that exhaust, Bet it sounds the nuts.

Its a big decision to make but worth it, nothing on the road comes close to it, in terms of looks without having to spend 20k +

I do have a video clip of it but its not on WOT, A friend wanted to know how it sounded with the BOV Delete :D, ill upload it tonight

Those rims.... very cool!

:D

Proper wheels at last, now it looks stunning :D

cheers :)

Looks amazing. I always think 95% of supras look awkward with aftermarket wheels, however you have just made the car look 'epic'. Them wheels are fantastic, complete the look of the car.

Thanks, happy with my choice :)

Still haven't straightened up that intercooler :-( In fact it looks like it's moved more, looks like hell on a perfect car.

I don't like the different colored wheel nuts, reminds me when I used to attach them little plastic things out of cereal boxes to my bike spokes.

My Auto TT had a massive amount of turbo lagg if you floored it from 40mph, can you confirm if yours is the same? Generally kick downs where good at any other speed apart from 40.

Ill straighten that Intercooler before the next lot of pics, I wanted to wait till I had painted all my spare intercooler pipes when I tart the bay up but people keep mentioning it so ill have to do it before that lol

As for the wheel nuts mate, your the only person that dont like them...

What are the wheels called?

They are nothing special, 19" Japan Racing JR11, 265/30/19 Eagle F1 Ass 2 on the rears, 245/35/19 on the front, both are 9.5" wide

does it spit flames?

Im not sure, I dont think so, I dont rev it freely like a chav :P

Very nice supra, Be the Nur spec sounds awesome on full chat, I had the same on my 200sx was so loud but no one ever moaned.

See quite a few supra's around lately, would love one my self but i think i would have to go UK spec TT manual.

I find it too loud and prefer it with the bung, it has a better idle. TT UK Manual is like rocking horse poo, and will cost around 15k

A little update

Engine bay

I bought a spare set of turbo pipes ages ago and I managed to hand them into work as we have a paintshop, the lads did a great job...

Not bad for free :)

Having taken the turbo pipes off years ago when I changed my turbo I knew it was a PITA, and after loads of swearing I managed to take it off. I decided to paint the heat shield and water neck with wrinkle/crinkle paint whilst everything was off. I also bought some new gaskets for the water neck as well as cam cover gaskets as that will be painted next...

Here are a few progress shots

Where it started

Not happy about the red at the back of engine so I will be finding a way to hide that.

New Parts

Ordered new cam washers, and breather hoses as mine had to be chopped up, these were a fortune!

I also ordered new cam seals and grommet as previously pictured.

The intake side just needs to be done now but I will wait the weather stops me from driving it.

I will be ordering a new better quality IC as mine was an eBay special so this gives me the perfect opportunity to straighten it and get the pipe work painted black.

Also realised these pictures I took a while back are not in this thread...

Sorted my speedo issue out, it was actually the cog on the speed sensor, cheap fix £16! My rev counter still remains broken though. Coming up next for the car are some carbon goodies, waiting for midnight before I start buying some more bits mainly for the bay. I really want a top secret carbon bonnet too but there not cheap.

Ill be doing a full tracking/geo soon and under sealing as I may take her out for the odd blast during winter. tempted to buy some stock rims for winter too, spending never stops! :(

Anyways, everyone likes pics :)

Cheers, I am glad I went with the Nur Spec, sounds so nice...and the best thing is you can put a bung in to make it quiet and drive around hardly unnoticed ;)

Looks fantastic with the new wheels on. Love it. Although need to get rid of the fake carbon in the engine bay.

Cheers, the fake stuff will be replaced eventually but after some maintenance and more likely after my wedding
Really nice but your going to be talking crazy money for a conversion

Yes its at least a 10k conversion :(

Not a Supra fan, but those wheels looks really good!

thanks, took me months to decide, I almost spent 3.5k on a set but came to my senses... yes these are not branded like Work wheels but they look great :)

Loving the pics mate, not sure how I missed tyhis trhead. Great

It doesnt often get updated..

Those wheels I think transform that car and suit it very well.

That colour is very nice and the photo's are awesome.

Driven a manual back in the day and found the Supra incredibility tail happy especially the Twin-Turbo!

Preferred my R33 GTR :p

Never driven an Auto Supra and could never see me buy one, each to their own. :D

Thank you. Yes when the 2nd turbo comes on its a kick that generally gets people especially in damp conditions...a lot of people knock the autos (usually those who have never driven them) but they are awesome, very responsive,, shame its 4 gears though but for 20 year old tech I think its better than most modern autos these days (obviously not DSG, PDK etc). My model was not available with a manual because its an aerotop, so If I wanted a manual its a conversion for me which is at least 5-6k easily. If I do change it though it will be the 7 speed BMW gearbox as shown above.

Intercooler still wonky? :D

Looks great though :)

Errm I did put it as straight as possible however the bodyshop who fitted my auto cooler put it in a position that fudges the pipe work for the IC, so I need to remove and relocate a few bits. I do plan to get a new IC anyway just waiting for funds :(

I bet, think he's turned into a feature now though, we'll be celebrating it's anniversary soon. :-)

The anniversary of it being bent is in Feb :D

Not updated this thread for a while...

March Update

Got my first piece of real carbon for under the bonnet...

AND i want MORE!
Best part is it cost me £30 delivered from a member, It doesn't compare to a whifbitz carbon shroud but its sure dam a lot cheaper!

Going to be selling my hydro dipped parts to help fund some of it and get the rest of it slowly

Anyways pics :) oh and I really need to bolt down my spark plug cover.. :)

I dismantled the throttle body side of the car before I went away for a work trip to Canada..... I had the intention of sending it someone to paint but I spent a lot in Canada so I decided to paint them myself, now I have managed to paint the cam covers but the TB side scares the **** out of me as ive heard stories. Anyway, took my time, took ages to mask stuff! and here are the results

Bought a 3" intercooler pipe a while ago with a HKS SSQ welded in, I sent this off to be painted gloss black, I then decided to wrinkle paint the SSQ so it wouldn't stick out like a sore thumb.

OCUK-193.jpg

OCUK-194.jpg

OCUK-195.jpg

OCUK-196.jpg

Now everything is back together :)

Summary of jobs
  1. Painted all Intake side including Power Steering Reservoir
  2. Replaced all gaskets along the way
  3. Painted Inter cooler pipes gloss black (the ones that can be seen)
  4. Painted Air Induction pipe Gloss Black
  5. Painted HKS SSQ crinkle which is fitted into the new 3" intake
  6. Replaces the 2.5" intake with 3" Silicone fixings and pipe work into the cold side
  7. Fitted Carbon Fuse and ABS lids
  8. New Strut brace (will be painted gloss black)

A few more carbon bits to be fitted and bought ;) And source some proper rad brackets not the ones my body shop made when they lost my originals!!!!

Picture of the engine I picked up the car in DEC 2012 (note: replaced the sagging rad pipe), its come along way :)

Tidy, bet it smelt like paint first time it got hot....

What about the intercooler, we're past the being bent anniversary?

The smell is awful and takes a few weeks for it to go :( I haven't straightened it yet, I am going to modify the silicone hose and add a bend in, the pipe from the intercooler is forced making the IC bent, the solution is to have a 45 degree silicone hose. Job for this weekend. I have a boost leak and im fairly sure its coming from that side too so not excuses this time :)

Why you do dis, Everytime you post an update I go straight to autotrader dreaming :(

I'll be updating this thread with many pictures once the weather improves.

Top job - looks amazing!

cheers.

Looking good, haven't seen one of these on the road's for so long. Always reminds me of the getaway in stockholm movies!

they are rare but I have 2 friends who own 1 in the same town and know of 2 others.

Looks great, much nicer than blue silicone hose draped everywhere and every colour in the anodisers chemical box. Remind me what the crackle paint was you used, I did ask on the Supra forum I think.

lol fancy seeing you here Chris! never saw you as a computer geek :) The brand is VHT black wrinkle

You've really gone to school, great attention to detail!

Cheers. More updates to come

Love the enthusiasm and progress, wonderful to see.

Cheers. Spend too much time on it lol

Fantastic effort, this looks pretty damn perfect. I've currently got mine in bodyshop getting sprayed. Have been waiting to order a set of these wheels too, debating on width in 18's...but looking about, the car just looks so much better on 19's, so i'll be going that way i think.
What pcd and offset did you go for on them? The pics look like the 114.3/120 (inner/outer) for which the only option is ET22 - that right? The other option is 112/114.3 ET35 so just wanted to check so i know the fitment is gonna be spot on. Advice appreciated :)

Hey fellow supra owner. I would pick 19s all day as they fill the arches nice
My offsets are on the rears 9.5" ET22 265/30/19 the fronts were 9.5 ET35 however the design of the wheel fudged my UK callipers so fitted longer wheel studs and 10mm spacer making it a ET25. I think if you want 8.5 ET22 it would work. Willtheyfit.com is a good place to start

It looks great now. I got to moan about how the strut bar is not at right angle with the engine though, makes me strangely uneasy, much like the skewed intercooler :p

It's a TRD copy strut could it be that the picture is not angled? The IC I'm working on later today hopefully

Damn near perfect Supra! Get it on a big single ;)

Since late last year I got schooled by a 550bhp Evo its on my list of things to do lol I'm going to do it in stages though so ECU and injectors and remap with my hybrids that's roughly going to cost 6k the turbo kit is 4K . Just can't afford 10k in one big go.

Sorry but how does it cost 6k for a set of injectors, an ecu and mapping? That's absolutely crazy.

Sorry includes a fuel system upgrade too. ECU alone is 2500£ fuel system 1000£ mapping £500 injectors fuel rail £1000 labour £1000

Once this is done the car is ready for a turbo kit and 700bhp here we come :)

Well my tyre choice on the fronts were 245/35/19 they should really be 30 but I wanted a bit of a wall as my drive is low. I have it as low as its going to get and yes full locks im touching the arch liner :( had I can profile 30 I would have been ok on the locks.
