My new weekend toy - Supra TT :-)

Forgive me if this sounds a bit retarded, i'm not that savvy on Auto's but what are the 2 and the L under Drive?

L is 1st gear only
2 is 1st & 2nd gear only you can put it into manu mode which alters it to 2nd only

MANU makes the transitions between gears faster. The ECTS throttle system cuts back on the throttle during gearchanges, and in MANU mode it cuts back less, therefore making the shifts harsher but losing a bit less acceleration during the gear change.

^^ Useful for launching.

March Update

I did not attend the RR session in Feb, mainly two reasons, the weather was poop and the coil connecters were perished so the car had a very slight misfire which could effect the dyno reading, oh and I spent the money on a new car stereo :)

Spent the early part of Jan/Feb sorting the heater matrix out, man was it a big job! Some pictures below…I was breaking and snapping things a lot!

The old pipes part of the heater matrix were removed and replaced

Old matrix left vs new right (nothing wrong with old matrix just the above broken pipes forced the replacement…

Part of the heater matrix change requires the old AC gas to be removed, which I got a garage to remove it and 2 weeks later to regas once everything was back together and they only charged me £40 :) The AC is blowing ice cold ready for the good weather…

I decided to replace the OEM speakers ready for the new (2nd hand) stereo which I had purchased to replace the 20 year old stock one. I had some 6” speakers laying around and also was donated some more. I didn’t want to spend loads of the audio so went with what I had from previous cars.
The audio system in the supra for its age was a decent setup other than the speaker condition was now naff. As stock in GZ model, the car had front tweeters, 4” door speakers, rear speakers and sub which was essentially a 6x9 all powered by an amp under the passenger seat. All was removed and replaced…

Rears (back seats)

Replaced with some 3 ways, and I ran new cables from this location to the head unit.

The front door cards/pods had to be modified to cater for the larger speaker and I followed some guides and did a DIY on them…

The speakers were alpha sonic, can’t say I heard of the brand but they looked like a good quality product, it’s amazing what you can find in the cellar (belonged to my brother).

With the door card on, it’s a bit of a tight fit with the OEM speaker cover so I am thinking of modding it slightly to fit the covers that came with this speaker. Either that or use something a bit more stronger than double sided tape and Velcro, both have failed resulting in the speaker cover to pop off..

New stereo…

The new stereo I got is a Sony 601BT, nice piece of kit, DVD, Bluetooth, mirror link ipod connections etc Took some time but eventually managed to fit it all in…

I bought a wireless reverse camera kit a while ago and decided to hook this up too, the supra has a key hole in the rear light cluster, I decided to get rid of the lock and fit the camera into there. It sort of fits but needs a little modding. I am getting some slight damp around the light so I need to seal it when I get the chance…

113.jpg

You can see the camera clearly in this picture, right light cluster

114.jpg

Picture of how it looks on the screen in reverse, It would be nice for the lines to be not there but its part of the camera, gives me a rough idea of space if visibility is poor.

I need to make a custom sub box to allow my roof to fit into the boot so once that’s done I will post some better pictures. The amp is currently in the boot and at the moment it’s just running the sub.

I have been driving the car a lot recently and it developed an awful noise coming from the rear passenger side. It turned out to be a wheel bearing issue. I got a local garage (mechanics I know) to replace the wheel bearing and they also replaced the rear shoes and adjusted the hand brake which I have never used! I didn't have the skill or tools to do this job and as I needed the car, it couldn't wait for me to get around to doing the work otherwise I would have had a go myself.

Whats next? Well those coil pack connectors need replacing so that is next on the list as priority 1. The custom exhaust has been adjusted so its not sitting too low, however its making rattling noises that I find annoying whilst driving so that needs to be addressed. Tempted to buy a nur spec r as the current exhaust is not very loud and the fit on them are great . I also want to sort the interior, the OEM carpet is shot and was grey at some point, I want the face lift model black carpet but Mr T charge a lot so I am on the look out for some 2nds. I also want to replace the matts with new black ones…. I want to take the vinyl wrap off the dash and have them resprayed. The car needs a good wash, infact needs a good respray…. I think I need to start making a list again lol

You're a bad person, you've made me look at sups again

and unfortunately my budget only allows for a NA, having a quick browse, a nice looking NA here - AT Link dare say you can knock the price down further.

Or find a proper chavved up TT for cheap and restore it to stock, that'll be nice.

I just love the attitude of this seller :D Gumtree link, still, could be a nice little project for someone capible.

Extremely nice car you have there - so rare to see a Supra that not been butchered and bodged. I've read the thread but may have missed it - what power is does it make? If you've not dyno'd it - whats the 0-60 time?

a little update, someone at work left the hand brake off their car and it rolled back into mine :( and damaged the wheel, wing, bonnet and bumper. I am trying to get something sorted but if things work ok should be having some changes with the front end ;-)

Dyno day at Evotune on saturday just gone. Car made 369 HP
The reason for the red bumper is because I am going back to stock front end, just waiting for the bodyshop man to return from his holiday...

Aw man I think that front bumler looks the best out of all those front ends. Plus you probably have the best colour too.

the bumper gives it a camaro look imo.

lol I do like the bumper it has grown on me, but prefer the stock one with a lip. Colour is lovely though i will be respraying it in the same colour.

Anyone Knows the wheels on it? Read the thread and couldn't find anything. Also, lovely supra! Shame about the incident, hope it's not too expensive

There Wolf race sharks I think mate  very common with supras and halfords lol these will be going soon.

I got paid out mate and I am looking to get the whole car done :)
