Sorry for the loss of your friend, but imagine spending 10yrs in a cage and not in the trees where they should be.
sorry to hear that, at least he felt love at the end!. He passed away in my hands a few hours ago.

You don't know much about parrots do you, his cage was open, he got to fly around his rooms all he wanted, and he'd return to his cage when he wanted too. Most of the time he would choose to stand on my shoulder or head when ever I was sat down on the PC or sofa. He loved taking trips to the bathroom so he could talk to himself in the mirror.
its hard to unprogram
You’re just an embarrassment now to be honest. But he wasnt living freely with his own kind thats my point. I'm sure you looked after him well but then so are animals in most zoos.
We're all taught this human supremacist mindset, and its hard to unprogram, so I understand your reaction.
You are so condescending that I'm unsure if it's deliberate or that you are just blind to it.But he wasnt living freely with his own kind thats my point. I'm sure you looked after him well but then so are animals in most zoos.

Personally I couldn't have an indoor parrot. I'd love one but I'm not sure id be comfortable with the cage time etcYep, we know buddy. We know.
I've been wanting a pet for a while now and hadn't even considered a parrot. We've always had birds in the family when I was a kid, I also had a cockatiel at one point and I forgot what spunky characters they can be.
My only concerns is leaving the house for 14hours a day five days a wek, I don't think that's a reasonable time to leave them alone

I have my suspicions about which it is.
Sorry MadMossy - parrots are cool animals; one lives next door to my mother in law and it's learned to imitate her doorbell, to the point where you cannot really tell the difference.
