My poor old M3!!!!

So basically, the guy hits a slightly damp bit of road, nothing special, totally loses control of his car.

Now if you lot saw this and it wasnt 'a mate' i think you might be a little bit concerned, personally i dont think he should be allowed to drive that car on the public highway, he could quite easily have killed some inocent people.

He either cannot control himself or the car, probably both, by the way driving instructors etc are not the best drivers in the world, they just couldnt get any other job.
How many barristers give up their jobs to become driving instructors, police get trained in driving fast because they would cause chaos if they didnt, but in my opinion, police chases are unneccessary and dangerous to the public...

"damp" and "diesel spill" are very different mon ami.

possible but unlikely.there are a few members in here that have been a little too keen behind the wheel and bent their beloved.it doesn't make them bad drivers.

i think that suggesting that the last chance saloon of the job world is as a driving instructor is a sentence that should begin "once upon a time"

i haven't slept much this week and as such i must be reading your post all wrong as i have no idea what the above is relating to.

the police get taught fast driving so as to ensure the public are at no extra risk as they go about their duties, not just pursuits.

plank :p

i actually laughed out loud when i saw that.. :D

We seem to get a lot of Diesel on the road round here, you can see a sort of purple rainbow effect after its been raining on the ground. Seems to mostly be on bus routes as well, its annoying stuff because you can only see it from certain angles.

I lost the back end of a fwd rover 214 which had 95hp going round a roundabout because of Diesel, but they were digging the road up with a load of jcbs about 5 ft away so I probably should have expected it....

Had a call from my best mate who bought my M3 2 weeks ago, he has just stacked my old mint e36 M3 :(

Apparantly he went round a roundabout and hit some diesel that had been pushed up buy the bit of rain we have just had down here.

Front wheels understeared and he caught that just as the rears went over the same patch and just let go, he again caught that but ran out of room and smacked into a very high curb (not too fast) he has trashed the side of the car and the rear wheel is damaged and sitting at a funny angle so the arm must be knacked.

Before you all say diesel aye blah blah, my mate is a driving instructor, an advanced driving instructor, a qualified instructor instructor, now a copper with police driving training, an ex stunt man and a sports motorcyclists so is well adept at driving he has done ice lake driving in finland so is not too shabby at controlling a car when things get slippy.

This is his first real ever crash, and he said you can see the diesel on the ground.

He is gutted but is fully comp (protected) so will claim off that

I am also gutted to as it was such a clean example, hope nothing major is bent

On a positive note 6 hours till I get my M3 as it is finally fixed, woohoo.

Pics of my car and my mates one to follow ;)

such a shame!

That sounds like some sort of clause in a contract that people must stick to before posting :p

Hope its not too serious. You must be gutted seeing it smashed up, but relieved that its not yours anymore!

From what i have read, you are saying because he is a mate of someones here that we are treating him differently. Well, let me tell you, he is no mate of mine and i have just considered what i have been told.. why would i have reason to think otherwise..

Where are those piccies Steve?

Diesel spills are evil.

I remember MCN pushing against this some time ago.., as many bikers crash on spilt diesel.

Diesel can be a nightmare, especially if its just been raining, or its pretty 'fresh' on the ground.
I once hit a patch on my motorbike as I was coming around a slow corner..before I could think 'Whats that?' I was on my face, luckily nothing was coming the other way otherwise I would've been flattened.
Another time I was following a bus, and as we went around a bend I could see the diesel coming out of the tank on to the road...That was definitely a brown-trouser moment hoping I that I would miss it all.

I hit some diesel once put my car at almost 90deg, so I went back round and tried to find it again because I thought it was fun  :o

Sorry to hear about that Steve. :( Always a shame to see a nice car get bent :(

When on 2 wheels I have to say that I basically spend most of my time (in the wet) looking for shiny diesel spills - when not looking around for morons on 4 wheels trying to kill me ;)

Diesel is a commonly used excuse, however it's very well known that it IS a problem, especially round corners where a lot of cars/trucks which are overfilled will have some diesel slosh out of it and all you need is a few drops to get a nice slippy film ontop of the water and it gets very unpleasant. I then takes a few miles to get rid of it completely from your tyres which also sucks :(

Oh my, it's Armchair expert day today it seems.

I don't about anyone else but there is no way in the world you can see diesel on the road whilst driving. Maybe after stacking your car and walking over to the slippy bit you will see the rainbow effect that oils cause in water.

But to claim you can do that whist driving deserves a

The fact it has wide tyres is probably the main reason it let go and other cars didnt, rather than the fact it was an M3. Honestly this forum really does make me chuckle at times.

Sorry to hear about you old car though :(

Sorry to hear about the motor Steve, as long as your mates ok though, thats the main point.

FWIW, I've never quite understood why truck & Bus drivers insist on brimming their fuel tanks, its a pointless exercise that threatens the lives of Bikers and M3 drivers it would appear!

Diesel is no fun when you slide on it in a truck either, I can assure you all! ;)
