My Prelude Project Thread

WOW, WOW, and thrice WOW.

What a fantastic project, you really have put your heart and soul into that, great work can't wait to see the final piccies.

Awesome project thread, and those lights are something else. The amount of effort thats gone in is really something. Good luck with the rest of it, and keep us posted :)

What a great Prelude rebuild, lots and lots of work there!

Your new lights look awesome! and the white paint is the best colour!

The lights are fantastic, very taken with the LED work. Fancy writing a proper wiring guide/diagram for them?

I'll second that, would be very interesting to have a go. And yowzers, great project :).

Excellent thread; rated 5*

Really like the lights and the attention to detail in every aspect of the progress so far! :)

Blimey! An amazing amount of work, I would have just gone out and brought a car instead of repairing it as I just wouldn't have the patience. :)

Another update for you.

Went over to the bodyshop this morning, and matey who's doing the front lip actually had something to show me!!!

That is almost as close to the Wings West RS lip as you could probably get just making it up from pictures, so I'm now happy with that, so it will be made up in the next week or so, so I should have the completed bumper hopefully by next weekend.

While I was there, I picked up the rest of the bits that had been painted - sunroof, door handles, mirrors, sideskirts, rear bumper, boot lid, rear numberplate surround, rear spoiler, and then started to fit them.

I also hooked up the rear lights, and discovered they've changed something between the pre- and post-facelift rear lights, so what was the reverse wire on the post-facelift is brake on the pre-facelift, so basically I've got no reverse on one side, the brake light comes on instead lol!

Also started to wire in the alarm etc too, which doesn't provide much pictorial progress!

Hi there

There is one thing you could consider now your putting it back together, do you really need to put everything back in? Could do yourself a bit of weight saving. ;)

Very nice :)

dont think i would have the dedication to do all that! Brilliant thread!

What alloys are you going for? Will you be using the multi spoke? Also will you be giving the car a lower stance?

I'm not really too fussed - it's my daily driver, and I was always happy with the way it performed - I'd rather keep it as the comfortable yet capable cruiser it was, than keep it stripped and lose the comfort!

I'm keeping the multispokes that were on there, but I'm going to refurbish them in a gunmetal colour, and it will probably already struggle to get onto the ramp in my dad's garage, and catch curbs as it is (especially with the new front lip), so not sure about lowering it, plus I don't have the money right at the moment to change either wheels or suspension! ;)

Spent a couple of days working on it at the end of last week, and have done the following:

All wiring sorted (had a fun issue with the SRS/main loom connections - they changed them between pre- and post-facelift, so the 8 pin plug on the facelift steering wheel/SRS loom didn't fit into the 4 pin connector on the pre-facelift loom!)
Alarm fully installed
Remote boot release installed
90% of interior in, just driver's door to finish building up
Front & Rear lights completed and glued back together
New windscreen installed
Rear window & quarter glass removed from donor, and cleaned up ready for tinting
Box sections in chassis cavity waxed
Wheels painted in gunmetal colour

Things still to do:

Rear glass (tinting and installation - tinting is done on Tue/Wed, installed Thu)
Front seats installed (leaving out until windows are in to aid their installation)
Front bumper (coming back from bodyshop this week)
Driver's door mirror, handle, and door card (mirror/handle in bodyshop)
Rrear fog light (connect power & earth cable)
Rear numberplate made up and installed
Tyres put back onto wheels (2 new ones being delivered this week)
Brake calipers (one of the rears is sticking - if I have time will clean up & paint all, and if so fit braided hoses if they're delivered)
Underseal wheel arches/undertray etc)
Wheel arch trims (installed once underseal has dried)
Insurance (certificate is in post)
MOT (once a lot of the above is completed)
Tax (once MOT'd)

Only a small list, but I'm hoping it'll be doable - got Friday off work so going to be working Thu night, all day Friday, and Friday evening if needed!

Oh, best end this long post with some pics!
