*****My WOT4 MK2 Nitro RC Plane Assembly Log****

To be honest, If I was building it from scratch (Balsa mission) I could really see myself messing it up :(

Iv never been too handy at crafting things from scratch, would rather someone just get me half way there (ARTF)

Shame you havnt got time for it :(

You'd have to be an idiot to balls up a balsa kit :)

It's all pre-cut, just need to follow the instructions and prepare to swear at it :D

Believe me, I would find a way :)

I would more than likely trip over the cat, knock a cup flying, cup lands an ornament, ornament falls off the shelf and on to the model. :D

DJMK4 - how long does it take to fly one of these? Also how much did the kit you listed in your first post set you back? Quite interested in this as a hobby (especially with the 3D camera and goggles).

So far I have spent

Spektrum DX6i - £163 - 6 Channel Full range Transmitter Radio << Very good & a copy of Phoenix flight sim which allows you to hook up your radio to your PC and use a simulator

WOT 4 MK2 Plane - £79.99

5 x Servos - £8.99 each

Spektrum AR7000 Reciever - £50.99

Align Regulator/Glow Starter/Li-po Battery - £46.50

Fuel Pump/Fuel Filter - £16.99

Ta very much. So the plane itself is just the chassis and you are buying all the (mechanical) other parts and installing them?

Basically yeh, the £79.99 plane comes as the main fuselage, the wings, landing wheels, tail wheel, the fuel tank and obviously all the screws, control rods, cables etc etc and anything else you need to put it together.

Picking up my engine today :) going for an Irvine 53 instead of a 46 for some extra welly :) pics to follow

Look what daddy bought home :)

£110 spent today :\ bit more than I intended as I need to save for holidays but what the heck.

120" you say? that is huge.

Sounds like you had fun though :)

Yeah coming along, I also assembled the fuel tank today aswel, I want to get the elevator and rudder controls sorted today but I dont think im going to be able to as I may need another trip to the shop to pick up some new hinges.

Failing that im going to start on my engine mount later.

That sounds an expensive plane! lol. Bet its a stunner though.

Cool would appriciate the pics if you have time to get them on here :)

Do you still need running in fuel nowdays?

Not sure :\ I dont think so, never been suggested to get running in fuel and the guy in the shop didnt mention it, will have to double check though.

Cant wait to get it fired up and do the running in/tuning. Going to stick a few tanks through the thing.might be a week or so yet though before I get around to doing that

Will do thanks for the tips :)

I need to do a little reading up getting the engine set-up right, i will make sure those above steps are done too :)

Wow, awsome machines! So big infact I thought that was a child sitting in the cockpit in picture 3! haha.

Must be amazing to fly something of that size. Good pictures :) Thanks again for sharing

Mounted the engine to the bulk head tonight, had to drll some holes in to the engine mounts, iv also fitted the throttle link tube (not shown in pic) and hopefully tonight then throttle control rod will also be installed.

Whats thread lock :S lol, iv just used whats come with the plane, the mounts are bolted to the bolkhead by nuts, there are bolts embedded in to the wood on the bulkhead.

The actual engine is mounted to the 2 plastic mounts, by using nuts, bolts, washers

Cool, I will look in to the threadlock, thanks.

And dont worry phate, im going to be balancing the plane :) what do you take me for? :D:p

Yep, sorry there is a few, going to do abit of a writeup tonight.

Im still having problems re-attaching my elevators after correcting the bar twist. Im going to have to cut new hinge slots in the elevator and tailplane and fit new hidges, there could be a risk of it not working.

I managed to get the throttle tube installed and the throttle control rod, I centered the throttle servo but had to reverse it on my control (this is normal) as with the throttle control stick at the bottom, the throttle on the engine was open (which is the reverse of what I wanted) so a quick setting was changed on my radio so now with the throttle control stick at the bottom, the throttle is now closed.

Tonight I need to continue fitting the control rod and come up with a solution to put some sort of stopper on the rod so it threads through the throttle lever on the engine and holds it securely.

Also going to finish off the fuel tank later hopefully, pics to follow.
