My phone has frozen 12 times today. I have to remove the battery to turn it off. Then when I turn it back on I can faintly see the clock on the black screen (some burn in on the screen?) and then the nokia sign then it doesn't do the hand thing sticks on Nokia and I have to repeat the process. I took my memory card out which is a high quality made in japan card and it turned on ok but I'm still having problems. I paid £100 for this upgrade with O2 about 36 days ago.

Am I covered? Are N73s unreliable like this?

yours obviously is, i dont know about all N73's, i know mines not, i would phone up 02 and see what they can do for you

u may be able to sort it out your self (although at your own risk):

it may just be that the firmware on the phone needs updating, and nokia recently released a way to update the firmware your self at home!

all you need is: the phone, a PC, and the nokia data cable (CA-53)

NOTE: before you do this, you need to make a backup of your phone, as it will erase EVERYTHING from your phone!

Have a look below for my instructions or have a look on the nokia site: hxxp://www.nokia.co.uk/A4254291

Backup Phone memory:
1) Put a blank memory card in the phone (or one with at least 40MB free)
2) Open up "memory" on the phone (usually: Main menu-->Tools-->Memory)
3) select option and choose "Backup Phone Memory"
4) this will take a short while.
5) Close this and do the firmware update as describer below
6) AFTER the firmware update, just go back to "Memory" and in options choose: "Restore from card"

Firmware update:
1) Put the phone on charge close to your PC
2) Download and install the latest Nokia "Phone Software Updater"
3) install the data cable drivers if you have not already
4) connect the N73 to the computer using the CA-53 data cable, and leave the charger connected
5) run the Nokia "phone software updater" and follow the instructions.
6) Once done, do step 6 of the "Backup Phone memory" instructions

That's it, you are done!

hopefully this should solve the problems you have, if not, contact o2, as it's most likely a hardware fault.

All the best,
Lad.

I've tried the Nokia update. It said my phone was up to date but I've read about firmware versions more recent than the one on my phone. Will give O2 a call on monday.

was in a phone shop today and a guy had had returned 2 of the above phones.. i think their is a mass problem?

No probs with mine, its an O2 N73, had it good few months now. Recently flashed it to the music edition, all seems good.

Sounds like its just a case that yours has gone faulty, O2 should sort it for you.

Not heard of a "mass problem", unless one guy returning two phones is 'mass'
