Got one through the post a couple of days ago, first impressions are impressive.

Just got a couple of questions for other users if they can help me out, the manual is at my GF's cant get there till saturday.

How the heck do you turn the little blue flashing light off? Its driving me nuts.

Would be best to update the firmware? Would I see any improvements, what like?

Also, Ive tried to mess around with the profiles, cant seem to get one to work as 'vibrate'. Ive been trying at work today to get it only vibrating but cant seem to do it.

Help would be very appreciative, this type of phone is the only one Ive had, just usually had Samsungs, from the D500 to the E900 and some Motorolla's that are quite simple to use...

Thanks :)

I can't answer your questions but I just got one of these myself, would like to know if theres any essentials apps and how people have got on using satnav with it as my equipment should be delivered on Saturday!

Turn off 'Sleep mode' in Tools, Settings, Phone, Display

Update it to the latest one, it's a lot more stable if you use the camera a lot.

If you hold down #, or choose the silent profile it should vibrate but not ring. Hold down # or choose the General profile to go back to normal.

The get a profile that is vibrate only, just turn off all call and message tones and leave the vibrate option switched on. The phone will then only vibrate when you get a call or text.

As above, to switch the blue flashing LED off, turn off sleep mode. This will reduce operation time though since the phone won't be power saving.

I was going to get one but heard therd been loads of problems with them and orange recalled all of the handsets. Theyve only just been re-released on orange. Also interested as to whether theyre any good. :)

I generally don't like Nokia, and I don't think they've released a half decent phone since probably the 6310, but I actually get on ok with the N73 on the latest firmware. It's a little sluggish at times, bluetooth is a bit funny with some hardware, and there's some issues where the useability is a little wide of the mark, but it works a treat with Exchange Push and does a pretty decent job in most other areas.

If you need a 'smart phone' I'd say give it a go, but if you just want a phone phone i'd be looking more at the K800 personally (I only use the N73 for it's push capability, the K800 is a bit lacking there)

What apps have you guys got installed so far?

I've only managed to install autolock which is handy and a few games. Only had the phone a week or so and I haven't got to really play with it.

The satnav TomTom6 is something I will look into but I can't seem to find many people around that are using it to comment on.

ive got SpotOn installed, lets you use the camera flash as a torch, came in VERY handy a couple of days ago when the bulb for the toilet light blew, and no spares in the house, so had to use phone for light when going toilet in the night :D

Got one last week. Like it a lot, especially the camera. The one thing that really annoys me is the way it shows Last Name First Name in the SMS inbox, despite the fact I've set my address book to First Name Last Name. Little things.

Little things pretty much sums it up I think. It's generally a good phone but lacks that final little bit of polish I think.

TT6 is the only application I've installed on mine. I'm using it with a Holux GPS receiver and it works fine, not much to comment on really! I could do with a decent phone holder in the car though.

The Apps I have for my n73 are as follow

Handy Alarm (because the default one is crap)
TomTom 6 (Sat Nav)
NTorch Lite (Flashlight)
BCall Recorder (records calls)
Crypto (encrypts files so only you can access them)
Autolock
BlackBaller (lets you ban numbers from ringing/texting you)
Message storer (lets you sync messages to pc, well atleastI think it does that, havent got round to using it yet)
Taskman (Task manager)

Just got the free trial version of Handy Alarm. Seems a lot better than the normal one you have on the N73.

How much does the fully version cost?

Been using this phone 2 days and am already thinking of taking it back for the K800i... it's more similar than I thought to my N70, whict all the things that annoyed me about that too. UI is unresponsive and needs way more clicks that should be necessary...compared to the K800i it's just a pain to use. The k800i is just so... nice... and the camera is better.

I compared my N73 to my mates K800i and thought the camera was slighty better on the nokia.

Definately not, especially in lower light. The Nokia has a blue tinge to it as well which I don't like, and it is fully updated to the latest firmware.
