N96 killer ?

How is it going with the Samsung now that you've had a day to play about with it? I'd like one of these phones but am struggling to justify the outlay.

It's better in every conceivable way than the N96.

Actually, that's not entirely true. The N96 has iPlayer installed as default which I think is the only thing which could be classed as better than the Samsung.

If you're trying to decide between the two phones, the Samsung wins by an absolute mile.

how so? is it not a lot bulkier,

how would you class it as better? trying to decide between these two, the n85 and the n79, i have brain freeze

or should i just get an n82 again...

I'm loving the Samsung more and more, there's no way I'd recommend *any* Nokia while the Samsung is on the market. The Samsung feels like a quality phone, everything from the materials it's made from to the feel of the slide oozes quality. The Nokia is plasticy, flimsy and rattles (and let's not talk about the crashes, freezes and slowdowns)

I've had mine for 5 days now and it's brilliant. A very good upgrade from the N95. Seems very stable with no random restarts.

A shame TomTom and Garmin XT won't run on it though! I'm hoping this issue will be fixed sometime

My mate also had 3 N73's replaced within about 7-8 months, and his N95 replaced twice.

Although Nokia are leaders in the mobile market I wouldnt say they were built to last.

TBH I have had my N73 for 18months used constantly every day with NP, some people just look after their phones ;)

Ringing people, sometimes it's just laying on the table and it restarts itself?!
That's really odd- like I say the only crashes I have had on mine are while using google maps.

When you say won't run, do you mean wont use the internal GPS? I have tomtom 6 running on mine but use an external bluetooth GPS receiver and it works perfectly.

Won't run :(

Tomtom (i'm also using version 6) stays on the splash screen and Garmin refuses to load at all. From what I've read these are common problems. It would be good to know how you got tomtom running on yours please :)

Haven't read the whole thread.

Having got my i8510, loving it by the way, i have one question.

How on earth do you use the front lens camera. The manual has jack squat and there's no option on the phone that i have seen. Also, how do I get widgets on it?

I just installed it and it ran . Did you install it to the right directory (tomtom) and do you have maps etc for it?

I copied over the files (including the map) to the memory card. The same files I used when I had it on my N95. I then installed the sis file to C drive.

What do you mean to the right directory? Maybe I need to move some files somewhere else?

It starts running but stays on the tomtom splash screen.

just rang orange and they still say they aren't going to be selling it. anyone know why? it's been out for ages now would have though they'd want this.

Who knows why. I know its not been a big seller, so maybe Orange have other devices to focus on? You could always upgrade on Orange with CPW.
