N96 killer ?

I cancelled my orange contract because they told me I can't have it as they haven't released it yet. Cue me going into carphone warhouse and getting a new orange contract for £35 a month and the phone free.

I lost my mobile number though

so orange do sell it?

they were offering £20 p/m with 200 minutes (i only ever use my magic nubmer so could live with just 50) unlimited text for 18 months plus the phone free. is that a good deal? almost the same as online so not so happy about that thought i'd get a couple more off at least as i'd also need insurance.

CW have bought up all the UK Stock (I think) so only way to get it on Orange is get a Orange contract with CW or mobiles.co.uk (part of CW group)

any clue on how long until there is more stock for other companies? the deal with cp is £15 more per month then what orange is offering me atm so much prefer to keep with them and wait until the phone is available

The real N96 killer is the N85 imo.

My N96 arrived this morning. First impressions are that it's pretty much an N95 but with more memory and a few small tweaks to the OS. BBC iPlayer is nice though, just been watching Mock the Week.

I've got an i8510 on order too so as soon as that's back in stock I'll be able to compare it against the N96 and see which I prefer.

that'd be great. really want to get the innov8 as imo it's the only phone that's a step up from the n95 i currently have so would be nice to hear what you tihnk of it.

Used one of these in Carephonewhorehouse yesterday. Totally underwhelmed. Coming from a N95 its just got a new theme/skin, seems strangely large and nothing special.

Anyone know of an offer with a free i8510 (or low cost), 500ish mins, 300 texts, unlimited internet for £35/month or less?

Doesn't have to be that exact offer, but something similar. I'm currently on orange but there's no sign of them getting the phone and my contract is up in about a week.

The phone is currently exclusive to carphonewarehouse who have a number of offers with both Orange and O2 for £35 that include a free phone and rather more minutes/texts than you quoted. mobiles.co.uk (which i think is carphonewarehouse owned) has cheaper offers with cashback by redemption if you can be bothered to plough through the small print.

My i8510 arrives Monday apparently but just a quick update on the N96 in the meantime.

It's crap. It's so buggy that I want to throw it at a wall. I've updated to the latest firmware but that doesn't help, it just introduces more bugs. I've lost count of how many times I've had to take the battery out of the damn thing.

I might just use my N95 for the next few days as that was nice and stable.

Ok, my i8510 has crashed 3 times now and restarted itself about 20 times over the passed week or so? What should I do? software update?

TBH i've never been a fan of samsung's. My sister has got the G600 and iv had a play about it with and to my expectations the menu on it is still slow and to me seems a bit buggy, my mate also used to have a D600 and was extreamely slow & crashed often. I'm a very happy owner of a N95 graphite and i have not experienced any problems with it yet, my GF also has the same phone as me but up to a month ago she used to have problems with the phone with it crashing regularly but a simple visit to the Carphone Warehouse where we got it from they re-flashed the ROM & problem sorted.

I don't think you can base any thoughts of the menu's etc on the i8510 given it no longer uses Samsungs firmware, instead it runs on symbian and from what I hear looks and functions nearly identically to the N95/6.

The only time mine has crashed is while using google maps. What were you doing to cause the crash?

Well, my i8510 arrived today so I've been playing with it and it's way, way more stable and less buggy than my N96 (which I now hate - stupid crap firmware)

I'll report back when I've spent more time with it but so far the Samsung is winning by miles.

How is it going with the Samsung now that you've had a day to play about with it? I'd like one of these phones but am struggling to justify the outlay.
