US: Narcos

Hope they can work something out for a season 4 - it's been as others have said the most consistently awesome series for a long time - certainly of any over its first three seasons!

I thought how it was ended it should be left, they shoe horned Pena into it when he had nothing to do with it and I hope that is the end of him in the show because the finish was perfect.

It ended with the clear implication that he was now taking a real interest in the Narcos of Mexico. He is the star of the show and a main selling point, to get rid of him now would be crazy.

I thought the clear indication was he'd done his work and was done. This sums it up nicely for me:

Pena replies: “I’ve done enough. I'm through.”

Showrunner Eric Newman has hinted that leading man Pedro Pascal will not return for season four, saying: “I think you can believe [Pena’s] final words.

“I do think that we've told Pena's story pretty effectively,” he told The Hollywood Reporter.

“‘The only way to win is not to play’ is a certain aspect of it. He has been irremovably changed by this experience, and whether he'll be happy in his life at home? I would say no.

“I don't think it's a particularly happy ending for him. But I think it's certainly accepting the futility of this.

“He sort of realises that, not only am I playing a rigged game, but everyone around me is OK with it, so what can I do?”

Newman added: “What's tragic about it is that you're losing truly one of the good guys.”

Few points:

1. It's possible that Pena's gone, but never believe a producer that has a commercial interest in creating hype and mystery.

2. dannyjo22 - are you saying objectively you think he will be gone, or that you subjectively think he should be gone? You seem to be saying both, in which case...

3. To willingly (i.e. assuming Pedro Pascal hasn't had a better offer or rejected his pay offer, etc.) get rid of Pena would be a bizarre move and I disagree with any notion that the show would be better without him now.

Just rinsed the 1st two seasons of Narco's, 2nd season is wicked, really really good. Might give it a little time before I watch season 3 though.

Pretty clever how basically a Spanish tv series has been branded under Netflix, I've got a feeling it'd be nowhere near as popular if there wasn't English narration and Netflix attached to it. Didn't realise its basically all Spanish subs, thought it was 50/50 originally but it's far from it.

El chapo is basically the same but just as good.

Finished season 3 last night. Thought it was great, better than S2 but not S1. I liked the focus being on Jorge; it got a bit tense at times. Hope they do an S4 based in Mexico.

Not sure they would film it there now though!!

His car was found on an unnamed dirt road in the community of San Bartolomé Actopan, in the municipality of Temascalapa. The site is in the north-east of Mexico state, close to the border with Hidalgo.
Mexico, the most populous state in the country, also has the most homicides.
In July, 182 people were murdered, a rate of 12.2 per 100,000 inhabitants.
A spokesman for the attorney general of Mexico state said due to the remote location “we have no witnesses”.
Muñoz’s friend, who asked not to be named, said seeing an unfamiliar person with a camera may have been frightened locals due to the insecurity of the region. “Maybe they thought he was collecting information and they started tracking him in a car,”
he told El Pais.
