US: Narcos

Just seen this:

UPDATED September 3, 2015: This might be the quickest renewal decision Netflix has ever made on its new original series. Less than a week after it released the new crime drama series Narcos, the media streaming giant announced the renewal of the Pablo Escobar drama for a second season. The reviews of the new original drama have been nothing but extremely positive, and even though Netflix does not publicly release its ratings, it is clear that Narcos has generated quite a buzz in a very short time. Netflix is yet to schedule the release date of new episodes, so check back with us for the latest news, or subscribe to our notifications and get the premiere date of Narcos season 2 automatically sent to your inbox as soon as it is announced.

I believe he was on the run for 15 months or so before he was caught/killed so another season would work. Would cover what was happening in Columbia during that time if he ran riot etc. Will have a read :)

Brilliant series that came out of nowhere. Can't wait for the next series.

Does anyone else wonder if they will go back and revisit the Iran / Contra affair? It was washed over in about 15 seconds and it was something I thought they would have gone into a little more.

Not necessarily snuck up on, as I'd watched a trailer a month or so back and was looking forward to this, definitely not disappointed. Amazing story, well told.

Loved the way they spliced real actual footage from the time into the series, really showed the brutality of the drug lords.

This is one thing I love. I like the words he used in ep7 are the exact words Pablo used apparently (check IMDB Trivia) taken from a wire tap documented in many ways.

Did anyone else notice the time-travelling early 2000s 5-series BMW

Yeah, I thought it looked a little out of place.

Finished this last night and was pretty impressed how they are interlacing the story into the real life events in Columbia. Cant wait for the next season.

Good first series, and fits historical accounts pretty well.

My worry for season two is (real life spoilers I guess):
They've put the entire Medellin cartel history up until the prison escape into the first season, now there's only 12-18 months left before his death. I found the first season interesting because of how much history they managed to fit into it, but I'm worried that the second season will need padded out a lot considering he's just in hiding for most of it.

I'm on the third episode. It's really great, and I agree that the guy who plays Pablo is fantastic. I'll hopefully get this finished by the end of the week.

[Edit] I stayed up till 1AM finishing it last night. Overall it was great. The police side of things was really weak though. I didn't care about Murphy at all, and the guy wasn't the greatest actor. Pena was more likeable, but he didn't really have much of a character arc.

Did anyone else notice the time-travelling early 2000s 5-series BMW and people brandishing yet to be made firearms, like the Beretta PX4 Storm pistol?

He was in a Land Rover discovery that wasn't made until 1994 either but with these things you only notice them if you know. Just finished watching them all. Can not wait for next season now!

Deal with it, Columbian people. Very few care apart from you .

This happens all the time with people who understand the native accents. Like how we all notice shoddy English accents. My other half laughs at all the dodgy Russian accents in films yet to me they just sound Russian!
