Narrow road and the school run!

Looking for advise or any similar experiences.

The road where I have brought a bungalow last year is very narrow and has a school across from the entrance. The main road isn't that wide either which leads to all types of fun at school drop and pickup. Normally I would avoid these times.

Today I had to nip out and forgot the time, when I turned into the road two vehicles were parked on half and half on the grass verge, it was tight getting past these then I meet grumpy arse, he saw me struggle to get past the other vehicles but just sat there eyes to the front. He made no attempt to move and after a conversation after would probably not have done so if asked. So I had no choice other than to try and get past, was very very tight and I scrapped my front wheel doing so.

I parked up and then went to see why he wouldn't move and explain because of how he parked I scrapped my wheel. " I'm doing nothing wrong, want me to call the police" he said, ok we not getting anywhere here then so I left it.

Now was he blocking access, been inconsiderate or was it my fault for trying to get past and if so what suppose I supposed to do?

My vehicle is a long wheel base Ford Transit with less than 500 miles on the clock and cost and arm and a leg, so yes I'm ******. Its not a massive scrape but I don't think that's the point|

He's probably expecting you to mount the kerb which I would have been tempted to do but that white post sticking out of the ground that he's parked adjacent to would have been a problem

I have nothing to add other than the fact he’s obviously a dick, but it amused me that his appearance and his choice of vehicle are exactly as I expected them to be from your description.

Yeah, but that kerb is massive and I have 20 inch low profiles, so was never an option.

The guy is clearly a moron but 20 inch wheels don't stop you mounting a kerb where it's dropped and to the next dropped kerb, you can see the tracks where others have done it in smaller cars. In a van however that post would have happily ruined your year so there was nothing you can do apart from give him grief

He's not psychic. He can't be at fault if you haven't asked whether he would move for you before you scraped your wheel. If you had asked him beforehand and he said no, then you could call him inconsiderate, but you never asked him. So, he's done nothing wrong and I think it's somewhat of an invasion of privacy to put his photo and car up on an internet forum.

Next time park in front of him and go and have a cup of tea. See how he likes it.

I've done similar in the past. Someone not giving way with cars parked on their side, didn't want to back down. So I said "Fine, I'll walk", locked the car and walked off. Didn't take them long to move after that.

OMG grumpy looking old bloke in a Berlingo, that has to be SkodaMart, right?:cry::cry:

Flol :cry::cry:

Yup true but you don't have to be psychic to see me struggle past two cars on a verge, then realise its going to be a right squeeze getting past me, wait ill move to make way.

Nah I'll just sit here engine running and ignore everything cause I can!

Firstly, you were silly to damage your wheel, unless it was mega important to get past.

Secondly ask yourself could a fire engine or ambulance get by, that would the test. Guy was in the wrong obviously had arguments with people before, next time avoid damaging your car and move on with life.

Just to add I'm sure some people get bored and just be annoying or interfering to pass the time.

I'm sorry but who the hell buys a long wheel base transit built as a works vehicle and puts 20 inch alloys on it!?

It's as bad as people that do the school run in a transporter.

May I ask why you decided to do such a thing?

Should have said yes call the police, then stared at him waiting :D

I wonder how much attention he is paying to what is going on around him. Tie a rope around his tow bar, round the lamp post then to the roof rack.
