Narrow road and the school run!

I'm sorry but who the hell buys a long wheel base transit built as a works vehicle and puts 20 inch alloys on it!?

It's as bad as people that do the school run in a transporter.

May I ask why you decided to do such a thing?

Cause I liked it and wanted a van, that OK with you :)

The school run does turn what are normally sane people* into complete bell ends. We have friends who live near a school and they've had people parking in their drive and then get snotty when challenged on it !

* Clearly anyone who buys a Berlingo isn't sane.

Since the school two streets away from us had double yellows put on the road outside it we now get this joy.

Luckily if I'm working from home I can flexitime to get out just before they all arrive or its mayhem and I'm stuck in the house for an extra hour because I can't be bothered with the arguements.

Yup true but you don't have to be psychic to see me struggle past two cars on a verge, then realise its going to be a right squeeze getting past me, wait ill move to make way.

Nah I'll just sit here engine running and ignore everything cause I can!

Did you attempt any form of communication with him to ask him to move before you attempted to get by? If not, then you have made the decision that you can get by without asking him to move, and it's a misjudgment on your part, so you should take responsibility for it. Unfortunately you have scraped your alloys so I can understand you're upset and are looking for someone to blame, but it's better if you take responsibility and then you won't get so angry. Also, it's only a scratched alloy which can be repaired, you haven't been seriously injured or something, so keep some perspective.

I used to live opposite a school which included six formers who would park down the road, it was mayhem especially at drop off and pick up time and people would block or even park on driveways until told to move. There was an old neighbour who lived next door to me who I'm 99% sure keyed all of the cars down the road during the day apart from mine so it looked really dodgy. I'd definitely avoid living near a school again.

I'm not seeing what was stopping you mounting the kerb, everyone and their mums dogs car seems to be at it:

It's not like you're scrabbling up a 4 inch high kerb or climbing down the same, there's a dropped kerb before and after which has clearly been used multiple times already.

find another route - I irregularly drive through a 6'6" 2way Norwich rat run and know I would eventually exchange a mirror, at speed against some suv, if I did this everyday -
it's like a jousting match https://goo.gl/maps/MjiVagKCdjgqJnd58 weston longfield
heh, thats about 4min from me :D a lot of the roads are like that round here, usually fine then come round a corner to a tractor / lorry going full pelt and have to dive into a hedge!

My parents used to live next to a school and it was a nightmare - the number of times people would block the drive and naff off to collect their little darling was shocking. They had an unofficial one way system in place and woe betide you if you went against it, the number of evil looks you'd get was amazing.

Blimey, Weston Longville is only about 10 mins from me as well lol! (Reepham) I only go that way middle of the night now the road has been mega nerfed, I usually cut up through Lenwade/Dinosaur Park.

Guess the op is realising why living near a school sucks! Idiots gonna idiot (guy in the people carrier, not op)

I was coming the other way, did say I struggled past the first to cars in the picture. The post put me off plus I really thought he would move, by then it was to late.

I live close to a school and the people parking seem quite considerate, they park near my drive but always leave me a gap to get out. However we get a mobile post office van come once a week, and they park directly in front of my drive every time, despite there being loads of other places it could park. I've had no need to challenge them yet because I've never needed to drive anywhere between 1-4pm on a Friday. People make strange decisions.

If you have mounted the verge and contributed to tearing that up - then that is equally irresponsible - worthy of photo to council.

running the other day - women returning to car parked of torn up 'village green' - I failed to accost her, lost for appropriate female moderated words.
