Is this possible?

I'm thinking about buying an ethernet external HDD so I can store my media files, including iTunes library, so they are available to both my PC and my girlfriends Mac.

In theory it should work.. but what about the file system?
Can anyone shed some light on this?

NTFS filesystem can be read by a Mac, but not written to directly. If you are buying a NAS box, there shouldn't be an issue as your Mac box will more than likely be able to Samba/CIFS into it.

SYNOLOGY do several NAS boxes that will do the job. My own 207.128 will happily communicate with a PC or Mac and has itunes functionality. All my music is stored on it.

Nice lil review here

The Disk Station DS-207 works well with Mac OS 9 clients and Mac OS X clients. This is an ideal solution for Mac networks as Mac OS X 10.4.9 has a bug that causes file sharing to be unreliable when a Mac OS 9 client is used with it. Once the Disk Station DS-207 was installed, my Mac OS 9 computer and Mac OS X 10.4.9 computers were able to easily share data by using the DS-207 network volume.

Worth mentioning that the 107 will also do the job, its cheaper too.

I never did get round to buying the 107... however I am now definetly going to buy it and stick in a 1TB F1.

One last question.. will this be compatible for a PS3 to see it as a Media Server.
I am going to store a few 9GB video files on there... will the bandwidth be sufficient?
