Fontana this weekend. I can barely contain my indifference.

It's nice that they can actually use all of the track, judging by the NNS race :p

I will echo other people's thoughts and ask Kyle to go win in Cup. Hornish still extending his points lead after that second place, Regan Smith is 28 behind after 5 races. Piquet still stuck in the midfield.

So, Kyle Busch completes the sweep of the weekend. Not a surprise. The manner of his win wasn't a surprise either - the Logano\Hamlin crash was pretty much always going to happen if they were close on-track, especially racing for the win. There isn't one ounce of respect between those two right now - not a great way to go racing. For all of Hamlin's dismissive comments about Logano, he's behind him in the overall standings now.

Tony Stewart got into it with Logano post-race as well, he felt that Joey had blocked him too hard on a restart. And this illustrates the difference between Tony Stewart and Denny Hamlin nicely. Hamlin will have a snide word about things for the cameras, a bit of bitching, and might retaliate on-track down the line. Tony Stewart will....well, he'll do this. Gotta love Smoke :D

Dale Earnhardt Jr. has the points lead now. That final 10 laps he made up 17 places, running the old-school high line. Hope he gets back to Victory Lane soon.

JPM is behind Danica in points :p not that either are doing particularly well (or the rest of Stewart-Haas for that matter).

As for the Logano scrap, given his behaviour towards other drivers in the NNS races lately (such as here) as well as Bristol, he's not been making any friends in Nascar.

So, Martinsville this weekend for the Cup and Trucks.

No Hamlin racing obviously (he'll probably be back at Richmond), but he's very much in the news still. He's saying that he was wrecked intentionally by Logano (though he doesn't blame him for the injury he suffered, he put that down to a lack of SAFER barrier on the wall he went into). Joey in turn is saying that he was going for the win, and the wreck was purely accidental. This one's going to rumble on for a while yet.

As for the saga of who will replace Denny temporarily....well, that got a bit tangled. For the full story see here.

Two out of two for Sauter in CWTS this year. Piquet had a poor race, only 19th. Jeb Burton (Ward Burton's son and the highest placed rookie) is second in the standings after taking third in the race.

Engine blew on Danica Patrick's car in practice, so she drops to the back of the field for the start. Going to be a long day for her introduction to Martinsville.

She's been disappointing this year, after ending strongly in 2012. Suppose its a no-win for her...run 13th and get wrecked, or run near the back and finish, get criticised either way.

12th place finish, ahead of both her team mates and easily beating the guy who turned her into a spin early on in the race. Ties her for 30th in the list of best first-timers at Martinsville since '72. She's had worse afternoons than that! Ken Schrader came on the radio to say "That'll learn her" after spinning her - she learned alright Ken, which is why she ended the day 12th and you were down in 32nd! :D

JJ won, so I would assume that accusations of cheating are flying around various internet message boards dedicated to NASCAR. Hey ho. Gives Hendrick Motorsports their 20th win at this place, with top 5s for Jeff Gordon and Kasey Kahne as well. Dale Jr's spin and 24th place finish drops him to 3rd in the overall standings.

Good to see Kurt Busch get out of that car. His interview from outside the care centre indicated brake failure - better to happen here I guess than most places, but not something you want to ever face and he did a damned good job a) getting it to a halt as safely as he did and b) having the presence of mind to hit the fire extinguisher button on his way out of the car rather than leaving it for the marshals.

Have to admit, the speed that he was going when he turned it against the wall, hitting the extinguisher would have been far from my mind had it been me, that really wasn't an accident that I would wish on many people.

Was amused to see the little guy at the end of the pit road, with his stop/go sign, making sure people filtered out safely.

As for Danica, it was a solid race, and compared to many drivers, she's done better in her official rookie year, than many drivers have done in their entire careers.

*shrugs*
In the end, an enjoyable race, either that or I was more off my head on pain relievers than I thought.

Hehe, not the kind of track I would have expected her to do well at. Even her critics were changing their tune after the race. Hopefully she can keep it up and make ROTY an actual battle. Stenhouse is terrible on road courses so Danica will likely gain points on him there, based on her Nationwide performances.

The Nationwide race at Texas was....well, when 8 of the top 10 finishers are Cup regulars you know that something has gone wrong with the series. Kyle Busch won his third race in a row. Cup race is on today, the Trucks are running at Rockingham (North Carolina, as opposed to Corby ;)) tomorrow.

Sounds a lot like 2011. Stenhouse won the championship with two wins because of the excessive participation from Cup drivers. Having that many points scoring positions effectively erased for the NNS regulars is stupid.

Should be good, and on this forum I won't have to endure tedious uninformed remarks about the sponsor for the race or the victory celebration ;)

Congratulations to Kyle Busch for winning the Texas race - he moves up to second in points (although Jimmie Johnson has extended his lead to 18 points on 269). Kyle Larson, driving for TSM's Trucks team, picks up his first win in Nascar national touring competition at Rockingham.

According to Jenna Fryer over at the Associated Press (http://www.twitlonger.com/show/n_1rjql56), Nascar has stated that Penske's Sprint Cup team committed technical infringements. The expected penalty is points deductions for both Joey Logano and Brad Keselowski, and suspensions for their crew chiefs.
