National insurance cut

A good idea for a poll. What would the bands be?
£10k bands seems standard.

I find it funny people are saying they are trying to buy votes by cutting tax.

I know as a fact of a country in Asia where they will literally pay you cash (£70ish) to vote for a certain person, and it's allowed. People will flock back to their provinces where they are registered as voters, just to vote for the candidate that has offered the most money. Now THATS buying votes :p

Fundamentally, we need to pay more tax, unless we want our standard of living to continue to fall. It doesn't come for free, and we don't have an empire to leech wealth from anymore, so we have to pay for it ourselves.

Personally I would be for simplifying the tax system, treat all income the same and close loopholes and avoidance schemes.

The current situation where the top earners pay lower effective tax rates than the middle earners on PAYE needs to stop.

If a UK government did that on their manifesto I'd vote for them. (Would have :p)

But Labour have been complaining about the highest tax burden in decades thereby forcing the govt to cut taxes and also confirming that they wont reverse said cuts if they, god forbid, get elected.. if Labour wont bend everyone over with massive taxes who will lol..

Fundamentally, we need to agree and be clear on what we’re expecting the government to provide. Then we can say how much tax we need to be paying.

There needs to be a way to tax wealth. I think most agree on that.

There needs to be a way to tax higher earners and companies more without them being able to benefit from UK without paying tax here.
This has to stop. This isn't just a UK problem. It's a global problem.

Wealth, world wide wealth.. Needs tackling before it's too late

I dint make much, in fact prob pretty poor lol. But I know the value of the NHS and the work they do etc, I would rather pay a bit MORE National Insurance etc. I have seen how much they have been there for my dad etc, the few times I have had to A&E etc.

Health service, social care, public transport, roads, education, benefits safety net, essential utilities (water, electric, gas).

Yes in combination with the fact everything in this country is broken. I.e where's it all going, how can it be justified, what lead / what are the reasons for it all? That's rhetorical by the way, I know the answers.

thereby forcing the govt to cut taxes

Govt doesn't care what Labour says

On day one of an incoming government "we're going to raise your taxes" considering how broke people are is not what any incoming government will do.
They've already said they will close some loopholes, we don't know what other tax changes they might make though.

They've also said it's going to take years to even start to reverse the damage / fix public services.

You don't even need a wealth tax. Just treat unearned income the same as earned and stop the current situation where people who work for their income get taxed more than those who do nothing.

Not on OCuk thats abject poverty, a living wage is 100k lol
I don't know.. it may be a lot of gucci belts and no trousers here...
When I first joined OCUK forums (2000s), a lot of my collegues was on this forum not sure how many are still active but we was only on about 20-25k.

Obviously some have progressed with their careers, some have moved out of IT all together..

I'm not on 100k a year yet, and even if I was.. I would likely stick as much as possible into a pension like I do now.
