Been playing this for a while now and when on Kharaa I only ever go Skulk and Onos and skip out Lerk and Fade. Does anyone else do this? I really feel the Fade and Lerk need buffing.

I play fade regularly.

KD of 43/4 yesterday. Just need to remember it's not a tank. Get in kill 1, get out, heal, get in kill 1, get out etc
 
You were an excellent commander in NS1.
I remember a game with you on Tanith and (not unusually) you were quite 'intoxicated' shall we say. None the less it was one of the best games I'd played, the aliens were really excellent and the whole thing was back-and-forth for about an hour and a half before we won.

It's really cool how so much of the previous community is still around.

Haha not much has changed (apart from my commanding abilities are now nil!) I've been dragging a few of my old friends back into this, we'll have to have a YO reunion some time.

I've heard that the fade has become a lot more playable with the changes to regen. What are your thoughts on that? I've not really played it much personally.

I haven't tried with regen. I tend to use carapace and adrenaline. Fade is definitely a bit scary without carapace imho.

That's what I'd do normally too. I read a post on the ns2 forums though where someone said that the new changes to regen speed mean that they actually regen a lot whilst blinking in fights...making them really hard to take down.

I've had no problems playing as fade but I deffo agree on the Lerk, It seems a bit weak with and without Carapace and maybe it should be a bit faster to get off the ground.

I've learned not to evolve into it unless Cara and Celerity is up because it helps a lot with survival as long as your constantly moving
 
Just thought I'd pop on a post about a new server we have online today. We have previously been running a 16 slot server (not sure who hosted it) Today we have launched a 20 player server from multiplay. We're hoping for it to be 16 public / 4 reserved slots when mods become available.

We always have a good friendly crowd from 5pm through to 1am with admins present the whole time. We're newbie friendly (If you let us know via our teamspeak or steam) We try to random every game, and discourage spawn camping / stacking ect. We're just about fun and learning the game. Can usually find about 10 of us in our teamspeak server. (Teamspeak IP 85.236.100.85:12007)

Hope to see some of you there!

I just play with everything low in native res with Textures on high and AF on / multi core / texture rendering. Optimizations can't come quick enough tbh but I don't mind playing with said settings atm

Lerk and Fade are definitely playable but they get are very weak near late-game where you simply need onos if only for their massive hp.

A Fade will just die against anything more than 1 shotgun/jetpack marine late game, especially if you have regen and not carapace.

I like playing games at 120Hz, so really need to get 120 FPS, which I can't do in NS2.
 
Does anyone else have massive load times?

I join a server and it can take 3 or 4 minutes to get to the Ready Room. The disk isn't being thrashed and it's all cached on an SSD anyway. I see the shaders optimising and pre-caching every time as well.
