Natural Selection 2

Up to 168 hours of gameplay now. Latest patch (build 184) is a bit unbalanced to the fades especially now with cloaking. If the marines can prevent a 2nd hive then they stand a good chance, if not their life gets very hard!

Worth buying at this point in my opinion, I've been on it for a few months, each build gets better and better. Performance is now "good" unless people spam turrets / alien structures, then massive lag.

OH. NO.

I just saw this in their programming hire:

Bonus:

  • Console experience (we'll probably be moving to the 360 after v1.0)

I really hope they don't bastardise the game by porting to 360.

The game seems to be coming along quite nicely, it was just updated to 188, there's a new hud (soon to be 3D), atmospherics, anti aliasing and new areas to tram and summit among other stuff.

There's also a new map coming soon called mineshaft.

Bugs this patch are gamebreaking though. Played a clan match on release night and it was awful. I'll still play it though but MAC's are a must now.

I haven't played it much yet, performance seems to be a bit worse for me in some ways but better in others, doesn't seem to matter what setting i use after testing so i have everything high with aa and atmospherics on, it's playable but i find it harder to get kills as marine now.

Also the new atmospherics mean the flashlight as marine is unusable. I've therefore switched them off

The new update seems to have fixed most of the bugs from the last patch, though there's still sound issues it's running a bit better, not sure what they did but it's smoother for me now.

Thread had been a little quiet so here's the new build(194) codenamed Gorilla.

With added Onos & Jetpacks, as well as a long line of fixes and optimisation

Still amazes me what a small (6 - 8 people) independent games company can create.

So who's playing?
