NEARLY 2 YEARS WAITING: New Mustang GT PP is finally mine!

looks lovely, but surely the decent engine is going to have insanely painful roadtax now :(

I do not worry about road tax when buying V8 or fuel consumption. If that was my concern I'd buy a boring chitty chitty bang bang diesel or an even more boring electric car. :D

Cannot decide if I like the facelift or not...

Is the 10 speed auto still a torque convertor?

It was demo'd in the Camaro and is in the Raptor, no idea to be honest, but it cracks through gears quicker than DCT, but what technology it is I have no idea other than its bloody quick and snappy which is what I like. :)

I doubt it's faster than a DCT... I just read up and it's definitely a torque convertor.

Oh actually I take it back, supposed faster than a PDK box... what is this magic?!

Just watch the video of the Camero, you can simply hear that is quicker, don't need a spec sheet or someone to say so, after having driven every PDK option and DCT, that 10-speed is quicker, the rumour was either 80ms or 100ms up-change speed in track mode.

To be frank 200ms is more than quick enough, which is what the GTR is, anything faster is just showing off. :)

P.S. Remember Ford & GM have being developing this 10-speed for years, to go up against the latest stuff, it has taken them bloody long enough and you watch Ford by Summer will have something quicker, though I bet PDK Sports Plus still drives better. :)

Engine is rumours to be 7500rpm limit stock with 470BHP and 430lb/ft with a good improvement on the economy figures too.

Not that I am bothered on that, it will be tuned and modified within a week of ownership again. :D

Do we have any idea of UK launch dates?

Rumour is dealers will open up order books for UK in 4-6 months, it will then take 6-12 months to arrive. LOL!

Worth the wait though, because in 2-3yr I plan on getting into a 991 C4S or GT3 anyway, this will be a stop gap and will have to be epic for me to keep it over going back to a 911. :)

To be honest I was sold just on the dash, yep said I know but I love cool stuff like that. :D

Here is a video, get to see and hear it start up along with the digital dash come alive:

The digital dash sold me on it, oh I am such a geek. :D

Latest rumour is also all options will be available global this time, I shall order:

Mustang V8 GT PP:-

- 4996cc Coyote with DI & PI (470PS / 429lb/ft @ 7000rpm est.)
- 10-speed automatic with paddle shift
- 19" or 20" wheels, whichever I like best with Sport 4S tyres
- Magna ride suspension
- Active quad exhaust system
- Delete rear spoiler
- Every interior upgrade & technology upgrade available, including heated wheel
- Rumoured Power Pack & I will see what the carbon pack is and maybe add that too.

As soon as Ford UK let me order one it shall be done, the wait shall commence and I shall sell mine privately in a year or trade it in. :)

As the new car seems so sorted I shall sell most of my mods with the car, though I shall remove to keep or sell separately the:
- FRPP oil-air separators
- Shelby steering wheel
- Titanium gear knob
- Hood lift gas struts

Suspension, power mods can all be sold with this one.

Great news is just like before, the US guys will get cars six months before us so any must have after market options will be available by time I take delivery though I think the MY18 will need far less work as Ford make some clear statements about addressing the chassis issues (floatyness) and damping problems of outgoing model. :)

Is the 10 speed auto still a torque convertor?

A friend of mine is a transmission engineer/designer (I don't know the technical term :p) for Ford, he was saying that they are completely moving away from DCT boxes and have no plans to put any in any new models, think the decision was due to cost but not sure, will find out.

Prices for the 2017MY are due to go up £600 across the range from Friday as well... Be interesting to see 18MY prices..

The new front end is not really a step forward I dont think. More aggression =/ better looking.

Also:

- Available six-speed manual transmission for both GT and EcoBoost (with twin-disc clutch and new dual mass flywheel on the Mustang GT)
- 10-speed optional automatic transmission available for both models

So if the six speed manual and the 10 speed auto are optional, is there another auto which is standard?

Just worded wrong, 6 speed manual is default, they have just upgraded the clutch and flywheel to handle the new increased torque from the Coyote power/torque refresh.

Though the stock clutch handles power fine, my friend is running 700+ horsepower on stock clutch, no issues so far.

So the upgrades are maybe just to make it change gear nicer or something, or less noise from the box. Really no idea, but not one to complain.

I think the new ones will start at 40k, won't be 35k any more for sure!!!

Price up or down, is cool anyway, prices goes up then so does the value for mine, prices comes down then I get less for mine but pay less for new one, either way I win. :)

Forgive my naivety, but what about all the money you've spent on your current one? Surely you're going to lose out there? Or are they mods that you can take off and put on the new one?
