NEARLY 2 YEARS WAITING: New Mustang GT PP is finally mine!

Can you grab a picture of the tread patern?

I shall do that when the 285's land, to put them side by side and see if any visible changes, in theory they are all rear tyres so tread pattern and groove size should remain similar.

Gibbo, get yer name down on't Curborough thread !

I will see buddy, wanna dick around in M3 but put off of people saying cars have turned over etc.

Certainly don't really feel like throwing around 2 tonnes of Mustang there though. :D

I honestly don't know how you can crash at Curborough unless you have absolutely no idea of what speed is inappropriate. Gibbo you don't have a history of driving like a complete idiot throwing your car into the scenery so no reason to be sceptical.

True, I just wanna muck around, in short go into a corner slowly, boot it and try to maintain some low speed drifting, is it a suitable place for this kind of dicking around.

So I may overcook, get a rear wheel on the grass, spin etc.

Not intending on trying to enter any corners at 50mph and throw the car into some crazy sideways drift, just wanna do some corner exit power oversteer where if it goes wrong there is adequate run off or the run off is some soft tyres.

Apologies, that's probably my fault, seriously the risk is no different to any track, where incidents are ALWAYS a possibility, if you over think these things you'd never go anywhere or do anything.

Get on the list and have some fun, sorry if I put you off.

When are they opening the order books on the MY18?

A good dealership will take a deposit now an use it to put the order in when the books open as such, which at present is unknown. In theory keep an eye on M6G USA sections because once they get the all go, you could in theory then place a deposit in the UK as the car you get will be an MY18 spec, then a few months later you will get the final confirmation where you tell the dealership the exact spec you want and colour at which point it is locked in and no changes can be made.

Right now my order shall be:
2018 UK GT V8 PP
10-speed auto
12" digital dash (should be stock on all exports)
Performance Package (again stock on all exports)
Lightning blue (similar to liquid blue GT 350 was press released in but never available)
Premier plus interior (stitched dash, leather console etc and again should be stock on export models)
Radar cruise, lane assist (again should be stock on all exports to bring 2 star upto 3/4 star)

The unknown parts for export and stuff I really want are:
- Magneride setup
- Active exhaust
- Forged wheels with PS4S tyres

The exhaust and wheels are a nice bonus, but magneride is quite a must for me, if exports do not get it or the option I will look at somehow retro fitting it and the ECU to fully work as stock.

The MY18 is what many of us made our cars into. The stock car was floaty and the manual transmission was clunky which Ford seem to have addressed in MY18 and then of course it gets quite a serious performance boost with the addition of lighter wheels with much better rubber. The manual is vastly improved but we now get a proper fast auto with the 10-speed that is getting rave reviews from Raptor owners. The engine should be an absolute gem too, the Coyote is epic and I love it because it loves to revs, there are not many V8's that spin upto 8000rpm making peak power over 7k, yes its a bit weak on torque down low but that is when compared to an LS, compared to most stuff the torque is more than enough and the inclusion of direct and port injection will greatly improve torque along with fuel efficiency which the current V8 is far better than owners expectations anyway.

MY18 just looks like a very sorted car that still looks totally gorgeous like current edition does though some are not fond of the front-end but its a Mustang, every owner tends to customise in some way or other.

I am just hoping I can move my PP3 over to the new car (fuel rails could be an issue) as an MY18 with PP3 would be knocking on the door at 550HP NA without headers with peak power very close to 8000rpm, its the thing I love about the car, 1500-7500rpm is the powerband making it such a tractable engine. :)

if the 8 speed on the '17 Camaro is anything to go by, you are going to love the 10 speed

hopefully they can reduce those power train losses for you as well

Don't see any issue with power train losses, no different than any other car, guy I know took his car (same mods as mine) except he has the Kooks catted headers and is A6 auto, he ran on a dynojet, so WHP, it made 483 at the wheels, absolute fantastic power. :)
Am sure the 10-speed is fine, Ford did say in their guff the 10-speed has lesser transmission losses compared to the outgoing 6-speed AUTO still its nothing to worry about MY18 will be an even quicker car and to be honest the car as it is now is very quick, the PP3 was a transformation in the way it goes. :)

Well the rears certainly fit very nice, no sign of stretched sidewall, infact they are a little chunkier than MPSS. :)

Fronts should be delivered later! :)

Woot!

Hopefully you'll enjoy them as much as I am, upto about 400 miles done on mine now and they've saved me from a crash! Some utter dick decided to pull out in front of me without indicating from a lay-by on a 70mph dual carriageway, had to slam the anchors on as there was a car to my side so couldn't pull out, must have come within an inch of his bumper, if those were the pzeros that had come off id of been in the back of him 100%

Had them all fitted yet Gibbo!?
Fronts go on tomorrow!

285/35/20 arrived, they are heavier than the Ferrari K1 295/35/20 can tell just by picking up, or seem so anyway, at somepoint I shall weigh as all 4 wheels weighed 12kg.

Apart from that tyre, ratings all identical. Tread on 285 was 7.3mm and on Ferrari 295 was 6.95mm so hardly any difference.

I only have rears on now, but done 100 miles what I notice so far:
- Rear axle is silent, all I hear now is tyre noise from front, so PS4S is a lot quieter compared to MPSS.
- In wet/greasy conditions car is now understeering heavily, way more grip on rear axle, PS4S seem to have a lot more traction when the road is going from the wet to dry stage, basically super greasy/slippery and this was a condition MPSS really struggled in but the PS4S seem a lot more compliant.
