Oh yea! I was looking at the US site haha. Urgh, work proxies.
Oh well, makes my choice even easier then. GT it is! My main worries are sloppy and soggy steering/feedback, being so big and hoping it won't wallow round bends. And also build quality. I'm going in with the mind set it will be the same build quality as a beemer but I just know it's going to be cheap plastic galore with the pricing they have.
So, the driving experience HAS to convince me to move from BMW.
The interior and build quality is not upto BMW/Audi standards. The interior is nice, it is better than Fords other models and similar to VW/Skoda, there is far worse out there. Build quality the issues are panel allignment, of course all easily fixable, but Ford should just get it right themselves. For the money though it is good and the level of toys for the money is good!
Steering feel is vague but no worse than a Mercedes or BMW electric steering, but its not as good as Porsche, Aston's, Jaguars, electric PS systems. I find if you put it in comfort or normal there is some feel and if you put it in sport it weights up a lot which reduces some of the feel. Overall the steering is not so bad, I've made a modification today which might help steering feel, but what I do find the car has serious front-end grip, where both the 911 and M3 would understeer the Mustang just turns in, infact it turns in remarkably well for its size, if you get agressive it does roll a little.
The clutch is woeful, but easily fixed for nothing, engine and gearbox are amazing, the handling is fine its just not as a dynamic as an M car or as agile, it is more on par with a BMW 3/5 series with M sport suspension out the box with the advantage of more grip and a differential and a massive middle finger to the EU with that lovely big V8 upfront. Thankfully most of the short falls of this car can be easily fixed and for not much money.
A recent group test that featured the Mustang, Lexus RCF and BMW M4, placed the Mustang 2nd place ahead of the M4 which lost out due to its engine, quite a win considering the Mustang cost around £25,000 less.
