NEARLY 2 YEARS WAITING: New Mustang GT PP is finally mine!

Interesting comment, just one question, when you refer to the M3 in comparison is that with your track beastie or are you thinking more in terms of the performance of a standard e46 M3?

Because it's TV from Curry's? :p

My M3, I'd say a boggo standard E46 M3, still has a slight edge in handling dynamics and steering feel, but slight. Also bear in mind I rate the E46 above the E92, I found the E46 chassis was a true sports car that was small and nimble to throw around. But the standard M3 had the same loose rubberised rear-end like the Mustang, just not as bad, BMW have more experience with IRS on sports cars than Ford do, or certainly do it better anyway.

For me E46 M3 very dynamic, feels light on its feet even in full trim and rides well with good all round handling balance. E46 M3 was in my view the best M car, great chassis, fantastic engine but with great road manners, it did the GT and sports car thing brilliantly, but was always missing something to make it complete for me, a void the CSL filled. When I drove an E92 M3 I felt hugely disappointed, though it was not vastly heavier, it felt a lot heavier, its engine though amazing up top was useless down low, the best thing about the E92 was the improvements in DCT over SMG, but I found the E92 actually felt cheap inside, engine lacked low-down and mid-range and the car felt heavy. On a handling perspective the Mustang fits smack bang in the middle of the E46 and E92 but with more character and well a better engine and a nicer interior in my opinion.

Hope that makes sense, what would be cool would be a Mustang with the DCT transmission as that really was superb in E92 M3. :)

But of course my M3 well its up there with a CSL, in fact I rate it better, less weight, more power and vastly superior brakes to the CSL and I don't think the Mustang will ever be as dynamic or handle as well, I might get close ish, but never as good or better, but the Mustang has better road manners, more grip and a lovely engine and sound and eventually I shall fit a warp drive to the Mustang. :D

Gibbo what's the cars weight ( with regards to a 700HP Upgrade )...because a 10sec sounds about right ?

no the TVs for later on ;)

Why do you need to see the weight when you can simply go on youtube and see that a 2015 Mustang with a Whipple, VMP or Roush blower is doing the quarter mile very easily in 10s on street tyres. Throw them on drag tyres, drop on a smaller pulley and some fuelling upgrades and you go sub 10s.

No need to know the weight, these cars doing 10s with bolt-ons is quite simple and they do it every day without issue and are daily road driven street legal cars with their full comfort levels, no cages blah blah.

However the weight of them vary between 1640-1680kg depending on options etc, though some are sitting just under 1600kg as of course sports suspension upgrades, exhaust etc. help reduce weight.

This is the colour I shall get my Whipple in:

How else is he going to beat you in a drag race on letstorquebhp?

LOL.

Well bushing insert removed, NVH gone, so that can stay out. Sun was out, went to take some pictures, sun went in, oh well, posting them anyway. :D

Driving in the drive, car impresses even more, love it, rain please stay away. :)

Looking fantastic!

I think the chrome touches work well, contrasts nicely with the grey and ties the various non-paint parts of the car together.

My thoughts exactly.
The other option was no chrome trim and black wheels and to be honest black wheels has being done to death so went for this look and I am happy with it, all that I am unhappy with is ride height, soon to be fixed though. :)

Car impresses me more and more as I drive it more, plus the engine seems to be pulling harder and even though I am driving it a but harder now, 300 miles done so far, the mpg is getting no worse, still 15-16mpg range. The acceleration in 4th though from 30mph is pretty mind boggling good, the torque is immense and the way it holds on the revs so high, LOVE IT! :D

I still can't believe what a (positive) difference switching the pony to the back made. The front end looks much more aggressive and sporty now. :D

Was the LED switch a simple case of unplug the old bulbs and plug in the new? I'm thinking of doing this when my car gets delivered (the 'interior light LED pack' is £200 lol). Have you made any enquiries about getting a less taught clutch spring made yet Gibbo? Love the reg btw. :p

£200, what lol?
For the interior to be full LED all you need is 4x LED bulbs, 2 for map reading lights, 1 for glovebox and 1 for boot, was like $25 for the four from CJ Pony. Or go on diode dynamics who sell a full kit for around $40 for the entire car.

As for exterior lighting, yes just remove halogen bulb and put LED in its place. :)

Took car to garage to check play in top of pedal, is not causing any issue with clutch or release bearing, they confirmed all fine. Shall go spring hunting yes, ideally want to try something like 40-60lb spring as that should not reduce feel or weighting much but bring pedal back to the top, stock spring is 150-190lb so strong and no wonder it makes pedal so light and clutch completely lifeless for feel. One of the best modifications I made and it was free. :)

Alas I'm waiting on a Superb 2.0 TSI (can't fit three kids and a wife in a GT) but it's good to know it's a straight swap. I'll be keeping my eye on this thread to see how you get on; I'm suitably jelly and I'm glad you're enjoying her.

yea that's quick  no you dont need a roll cage

it deffo needs a Blower.....but it looks right as is, i'd add a rear spoiler but that's all.
