NEARLY 2 YEARS WAITING: New Mustang GT PP is finally mine!

Gibbo, did you find put what he latest was on the power packs coming to the UK?
I think i could definitely go for a stage 2 while deciding what to do about a supercharger - 40lb/ft from 1500rpm :D

Suspect we will get them, all tunes give 40lb/ft down low, I reported this with a dyno graph to prove when I flashed the canned SCT tune. :)

We should get them by March latest next year, Stage 2 is nice for sure, will take a UK car to around 440BHP / 420lbft and be a much nicer drive, also give you flat shifting ability too.

Stage 3 is great for top-end power, good 50+ horsepower at 7500rpm, a good option as all with a warranty and once in the UK will mean you can even order a new car with this kit and have the dealer pre-flash the car for you when taking delivery with full warranty.

Even if Ford in UK decided to offer pre-modified cars, for example for £39,950, you could get a V8 GT manual PP car pre-installed with FRPP track suspension kit, FRPP stage 2 remap, you'd have a vastly more capable car, even more so if the Pzero gets changed to MPSS as well. All of a sudden the weaknesses of the car go away and its still under 40k. :)

If I was running a dealership here in UK, I'd be pushing Ford UK/US massively just to allow the ability to offer an upgraded Mustang with warranty on the forecourt using the above, because the handling kit and remap makes quite a transformation to the car. I'd also throw on the FRPP sport quad exhaust with rear valance as well to have the sound department fully covered. End of the day they are all factory USA options and are three very basic options that transform the cars performance, handling and sound along with making it look vastly better.

Gibbo, got yours back yet?

Nope.
The new oil cooler arrived with Ford but was missing o-rings, should have come with them. So the dealership is struggling to source just the corrrect o-rings as there is no part number for them. Service manager is going to a parts store tomorrow to buy o-rings of correct size.

I also told them can't see no issue with just re-using the ones from damaged oil cooler as not like they will be worn.

Hopefully they will have an update for me tomorrow as once they have these they can sort it out and told me will done straight away as its not a big job.

 Muppets. Let's hope you get it back soon.

Still massively temped by one of these even though i'm currently looking at 640d's (yes, complete opposite end of the car ownership scale!).
The customisation, the likes of which you've exhibited, is one of the most massive draws as is the fact that...well...bugger it...V8!!!

I did NC500 past few days with a group of Mustang owners, there was 13 cars if I remember, all Mustangs except my BMW. Not one Mustang was the same, everyone had a different exhaust, stripes, other mods etc.

As good as the M3 was against well driven Mustangs it simply could not keep up, particular on the bumpy poor roads, but to say the Mustang is very capable on some typical UK roads and even more so with the kind of mods I have done.

Trip was awesome, the BMW was great, but yes I'd have rather being in the Mustang and to all those who say its a big car, no one had any issues on the single track roads along the NC500, the drive was immense fun. :)

Hi there

So I was unsure where to post this, as it was the pre-arranged Mustang NC500 trip, but due to my Mustang developing a hole in the oil cooler put it out of action and the BMW track car had to take its place. So I spent several days and nearly 1500 miles in a bucket seat. Surprisingly I never had any dis-comfort apart from the 500 mile journey home as that took just over 7hrs so my bum was a little numb. Surprising findings from the trip, in a straight line the M3 seems to have the legs on a stock Mustang, but marginal but on the twisty stuff, especially the bumpier roads the M3 simply cannot keep up with a well driven Mustang, it gets deflected too much and due to -3.0 front camber its like being in the ring with Mike Tyson. Still did I have fun, YES huge amounts, would I have preferred to be in my Mustang, yes to that as well, but the BMW did great for an old girl and even though she was pushed hard, she still returned 28mpg on the entire trip, door to door with an average speed of 55mph.

Here is some of the photos I got which feature Mustang more than M3, because of course it was a Mustang meet:

What was really cool was how UK owners have embraced Mustang ownership just like US owners as every single car was modified in some way or other, whether it was just down to a badge change, a Shelby wheel or a full suspension over haul they were all modified in some way or other. It was also cool that nearly every car had a different exhaust system on it, so they all sounded different, but all so epic sounding, well the V8 ones anyway. ;)

It was incredible fun, I want to do it again, but in a Mustang because it is as if those roads were built to be driven in a Mustang, they absolutely ate the roads up in their stride and handled superbly well even on some of the bumpiest and really complex roads.

Fantastic time and fuel wise I spent less than £200, about £300 in hotels and couple hundred quid on food. Great trip and great company as everyone got along so. :)

I can seriously recommend NC500 to anyone, no matter what car you own, do it, DO IT NOW, incredible views and everyone was so accommodating. It really is so awesome that the UK has some truly epic places to visit like this, some of the scenes were like the brochure shots you see of Canada. :)

The most gorgeous location in the country. I would probably take the Polo over the R8, more suited to some of the tighter roads, but a fantastic drive. Where did you stay?

If Mustangs had no issue buddy, I am sure R8 would be fine. :)

Hi there

Ford have announced official power packs for the new S550 Mustang! :)

Funny how they are along the lines of what I have already done and was planning with the Shelby GT 350 intake. I also spoke with Ford USA about if their new performance maps increase the rev limit which they confirmed they do, 7600rpm. When asking if this was safe the response was the Coyote engine in the S550 has the same internals as BOSS 302 and was designed for upto 7600rpm. As such no supporting modifications are required for the higher rpm and those who buy the power pack and have it installed by Ford or a qualified mechanic will keep their power train warranty intact. They also said no-lift shifting is perfectly safe on the power train and warranty remains intact.

I have already done Stage 1, but used JDM tuning, I have panel filter, my car went from 410BHP upto 440BHP with tune and panel filter. I also witnessed a 40-50lbft torque increase in the 1500-2500rpm region and car drove so much better, smoother, throttle response etc. :)

Now all I can say is imagine a Mustang with just these simple Ford parts:
- FRPP Power Pack 3: 460-480BHP $1999
- FRPP Handling kit: $999 (dampers, springs, anti-roll bars, bushes)
- FRPP Sport exhaust with quad pipes and valance: $1999
- Michelin Super Sport tyres!

A total transformation and far more capable car that retains a full factory warranty costing around 40k for a brand new car. :)

Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!

Did you order it already? :D

No because I am already running Stage 1.

Yes I have ordered a CAI, but not GT 350 one, gone with another one as I believe it to be better, shall see when I put it on the dyno once it arrives and I get my car back from warranty repair, but hoping to see 450-460BHP. I shall then buy the exhaust manifolds and fingers crossed for 500BHP and around 450lbft.

Then I need to decide if I want to get GT350 intake manifold or not, because yes it would be awesome to have 60 plus more horsepower after 6500rpm and a car that is creating power all way to 7600rpm cut off and not falling off, but I also love the huge amounts of torque the engine has in the 1500-4500rpm region. The Shelby GT350 has a lot less torque down low and I spend more time driving the car in the 1500-4500rpm range then I would in the 6500-7500rpm, so I think the torque is more beneficial on a daily car. If it was a track car then of course another 60 horsepower in the 6500-7500rpm range is great as on track your always in the upper RPM band. :)

Or just destroy my wallet and Whipple it up, that would be 750 plus horsepower.

Gibbo,

Loving some of the NC500 pics.

Question - the yellow Mustang, what bonnet and spoiler does that have, is that genuine Ford parts, perhaps from the US?

Also, is there any word of Ford UK offering recaro seats as an option in future?

It is Cervini fully bodykit, very aggressive styling but on a yellow car with stripes it works amazingly well, fitment was all spot on too.

You can buy Recaro seats from FRPP in USA, they are around $2500-$3000 USD, but they are for LHD cars, but would still fit just means controls would be on opposite sides or you could just use passenger seat for drivers seat etc and have some less adjustment.

The recaro seats look more sporty and weigh less, but the stock seats are a lot more comfortable so not having Recaro's is not such a major loss on the RHD cars. :)

I Hired a model for www.overclockers.co.uk a few weeks back for the AMD RX 480 graphics card launch and she was keen to get some photos with the Mustang. Don't worry I thoroughly pre-inspected all her clothes before she put them on for any sharp or hard bits that could scratch the paint work, all passed. ;)

We had a lot of fun on this day though it was very windy which did not help matters at all, still they came out pretty well and looking through these today just makes me want my pony back from Ford, so hope they fix it soon. :D

It might not be a Mustang but what a great noise it makes:

Got a lot more of burn outs, drifting and some awesome footage of all the different exhaust which will aim to post soon.

Hi there

Being to Ford today, first of all a couple of pictures of the girl looking sorry for herself, shows the new wheel colour a bit better, though cannot wait to see them in sunlight to set off the metallic flick in them:

IMG_7983.jpg

IMG_7986.jpg

So got to see the new oil cooler and well it seems this is yet another part that is different between RHD and LHD versions or maybe all EU Mustangs had this change.

New UK / RHD / EU (possibly) Oil Cooler

The old o-ring / gaskets from broken oil cooler

USA / LHD Oil Cooler

image001.jpg

It seems like RHD cars use a very different oil cooler setup compared to USA / LHD cars.

So right now Ford do not want to use the old o-rings because they have sweated and do not advice it but at the same time no one at Ford anywhere seems to have any idea what part number new o-rings are or how to get them.

Its getting pretty pathetic really, I mean they build these cars on a production line and someone, somewhere has these o-rings/gaskets on that production line, so someone somewhere knows the correct part and where they are.

On a positive note, I like the wheel colour Gibbo, where did you get those done mate?

Top Marques in Fenton. Will look better in sunlight but kind of wasted money as by the time I get the car back my new wheels will be here shortly so new tyres and re paint was a bit pointless in the end. :(

Ford finally got the parts for my car ordered and they are being air freighted from US due late this week or next.

I've now got a Mondeo Titanium AWD comfy barge that really is the size of Titanic.

Did you see what happened to the bloke with the GT350 in America who had an oil cooler failure on track Gibbo? Somewhat fiery...! Can't link it as theres a sweary but the articles on jalopnik...

Just read that, scary very scary and rather worrying on the day mine let go it was heavy with rain so driven slowly. But the same could have happened.

Maybe Ford have an issue with oil coolers but so far it seems extremely rare so fingers crossed once repaired my car won't try to turn into a ball of fire.
