NEARLY 2 YEARS WAITING: New Mustang GT PP is finally mine!

i never said anything about the Shelby variants, the aussies have a fantastic charged V8 they use in the Falcon XR8 500 bhp on overboost and Ford Australia have nothing to compete with Holden after the Falcon goes out of production in October, maybe Ford Australia will throw some Ford Racing parts at a few cars and offer a semi official hot mustang. but they have a cracking engine ready to go and i'd be very surprised if they don't make use of it, then you have the matter of the 4l Turbo lump :) again very capable and just ripe for dropping into the mustang. who knows.

as for my thoughts on a diesel mustang..... perhaps perhaps not, i'd like to think it would never happen but mustang looks and kiddy on MPG figures would be a good seller

talking of charged offerings, any more thoughts on charging this one?

Hi there

I like the Coyote V8 because it seems to have the best balance, it has usable torque down low, OK not crazy low-down torque like an LS but it will pull from 1000rpm in 5th quite happily. But I love how the engine just feels so free and its willingness to rev so high and hard with ease, a lot of V8's run out of puff around 5500-6000rpm, unless they have an M badge on the back, though the BMW V8's as revvy as they are really are quite lacking down low.

So yes I do like the engine. Will I supercharge it, yes still on the cards, but now Ford have made the Power Pack 3 official (US) which includes GT 350 intake manifold along with a warrantied 7600rpm redline I am going to go down that route. Ford state 475-495HP, with headers this should give me in the region of 505-525BHP and as I am getting close to 100kg out of my car I am going to see how it feels. 500+ horsepower and 1600kg kerb weight is going to be handy, will actually be as quick as my last Mustang that was FI.

I've got two mates with Mustangs, who are both Whippled and both have offered me the keys, so I shall drive their cars and then see what I think. Beauty of me staying NA is reliability, less weight, better balance and no traction issues as the new Mustang handles 500 horsepower with no bother.

If I go FI, it shall be a Whipple stage 2 kit which will put my car with headers around 800BHP, the only part from going NA route previously that needs removing would be the intake manifold and CAI, both of which I can sell second hand at pretty much the prices they cost new, so no money lost with venturing down the NA route. :)

I set em up, other top tier posters knock em down.

Gibbo what tyres are you go for next? MPSS, MPS4 or something else?

Mustang MPSS, know a few guys now who have tried the new CSC6 who previously had MPSS, lets just say they are performance drivers like me who push a car hard on both road and track. They went back to MPSS after CSC6. They said the CSC6 lacked feedback in comparison and did not last as long as MPSS.

On my M3 I am buying a set of Michelin PS4 all round for it as technically the PS4 replaces the MPSS or is the same as MPSS but for smaller sizes, in short it is excellent.

I am pretty much decided now that for a road tyre for people who enjoy performance driving with excellent grip and feedback in all conditions, then MPSS or PS4 are the only choices, they are the best and they last for sodding ages. They also work vastly better than any other road tyre on track, do not over-heat and the track does not hammer them wear wise like it does other road tyres. :)

Mustang returns home tomorrow, it is pretty much done now!

Went to see it today, told them I want coolant system fully flushed several times, coolant bottle cleaned, full oil change, entire under-side of car jetwashed and cleaned. But not to clean the exterior. They agreed to do it all under warranty even though warranty does not cover it all, in other words Ford CRC and the dealership are contributing.

So I shall get it back tomorrow, problem fixed, full service and full underside clean. I shall then wash it over the weekend myself and get it booked in with Autobrite for a new wax protection.

Also my 20" wheels are shipping from USA this week, so need to buy tyres for them this month is freaking expensive, over £5000 in wheels, tyres, differentials, yes diff's M3 has being getting some loving whilst Mustang was MIA. :D

Crikey that's taken a long while, how did they figure out which part you required, trial and error?

No it took 3 weeks to find the part number they needed to order, not by trial and error but from awaiting a response from Ford UK.

In hindsight I could have rang Ford USA with my VIN and obtained it myself within 24hrs, yes really it was that simple, Ford UK for some reason could not figure that out.

Dealership has being great, but Ford UK absolute suck.

Excellent news the car has been fixed.

I completely agree, as I am currently waiting on a set of MPSS for mine, as they are on back order for me at present and they don't make PS4 in my sizes yet.

That is shocking, i assumed the delay was them getting all the part variations and trying them!

Nope.

- Arrived at dealership with oil leak.
- Diagnosed there and then.
- Following day oil cooler ordered.
- 4-5 days later oil cooler arrives, but without a gasket.
- No one knows about the gasket or the part number for it, took them 3 weeks to obtain part number.
- Then an additional week for it to arrive.
- Car is now being repaired today and collecting tomorrow.

Parts is a big problem for the UK Mustang, some items take weeks to arrive and other items have no part numbers it would seem. Ford UK need to improve the parts situation, they do not even have consumables such as brake pads in stock and are quoting weeks to deliver.

The car is bloody awesome, but Ford UK have a long way to go.

Drove my father's tonight for a good four hours. What an awesome car :) 3rd gear just keeps going and going until you run out of road.

The only real criticism is the mirrors they are awful real awful but it may be I'm just used to the bus mirrors on the hilux.

I can see why others tweak the odd bits and bobs but the as it is its awesome.

It is easily the best Mustang Ford have ever released out the box, though do remember all EU/UK Mustangs are premium spec with Performance Package as standard. In the USA you can order a base car which is actually a nice option because they are super soft and bouncy which makes them even better as tourers and they are better at drag racing, little less weight, softer setup etc. :)

But yes it is a great car out the box which is no doubt because Ford was going global they had to make the base car much better, whereas before a standard Ford Mustang was actually pretty aweful, but they could be made rather good, Ford proved that themselves with the BOSS 302.

Yes the mirrors are a downside but not one which effects the drive for me, main issue is the passenger mirror but it is a niggle and one you kind of forget about after a couple of days.

Looking at the problems you're having and all the other problems on 6g I'm seriously considering cancelling. Even if the camaro is a leftie, its basically got everything sorted from the factory and the dealer gets pretty good reviews.

I've tried emailing my Ford dealer a few questions since i ordered and no response at all, doesnt bode well for ongoing support.

Yep its shocking, promised car back today and they failed.

He's been told the passenger mirror will be picked up on a recall?

Would also be amazing as an auto. Probably a better choice subject to actually driving one

There isn't much you can do with the mirror. Someone had posted a DIY fix on 6g hat involves putting washers in the motor mounts to move it a bit but I doubt a dealer is going to do that. The mirrors are basically the same on LHD EU and RHD so don't turn in enough for us.

What was the excuse this time?

The flush for the coolant system they had only one in stock of was reserved for my car but parts guy let it go to another dealership and none of the other local dealerships had any in stock, so earliest they could get more was Monday.

Just absolute incompetence, shall be seven weeks this Tuesday.

That really is disgraceful, I'd be seriously contemplating ditching the brand at this point, the sour taste the experience would have left in my mouth would always be niggling away at the back of my mind :(

That's the main reason every time I buy a generic brand, I end up selling and moving on. I had terrible service from Nissan with both of my GT-R's, and Ford have been pretty useless too.

This is awful Gibbo, and I'd think hard about sticking this out long term.!

Nope completely agreed, if it was not for the fact I enjoy the car so much and have modified it my stance would now be along the lines of sorry but you can keep the car, I am rejecting it.

Because in short the service is diabolical, the MD of Ford simply forwards my emails on to customer service team who do their best to calm the situation but actually offer nothing to make up for the shocking service, there is only so many times they can say sorry.

Would not be so bad if the MD of Ford took ownership or was willing to reply and show he was helping, but as they say silence is the worse form of customer service.

Lets see if I get the car back today, I just hope that after all this time I get the car back and the job has being done 110% correctly and to satisfaction because after this I do not think I will ever take the car back for warranty work, I shall just repair it myself.

Ford's flagship car, the one they marketed so hard to sell but at this rate it will just be a flash in the pan.

Autoexpress have a long term Mustang, which they also love but they had some knocking noise coming from the rear. Well Mustang owners club had to write to Autoexpress informing them that the car sold to them had previously being crashed by a sales person at that dealership and the car had extensive repairs, but obviously not done correct.

So Ford repairing crashed damaged cars and selling as new, guess they got caught out big time though by selling a car to the press.

Did autoexpress actually buy the car, or just take one as a demo like they do with every other long-term test car?

Nope they purchased the car and own it.

Believe the latest is that Ford or the dealership have agreed to replace it with a brand new car.
