NEARLY 2 YEARS WAITING: New Mustang GT PP is finally mine!

Got it back and it's still leaking FFS! I give up!!

I am so stressed its untrue! :(

Just got back from holiday and saw your post on Facebook, then had a quick look on here.

If it is of any help, see if you can get Burns in Congleton to deal with it from now on under warranty (have a word with Ford UK first). I've had far better service from Burns than I did at Bristol St when I tried to buy a car from them in April. I'm not linked to BS in anyway, and I know it's a bit too late now, but it's just my personal experience.

It's a shame dealerships can't get it right. They're meant to be the experts but the lack of knowledge at some I've been too is extremely shocking. I hope this gets sorted for you, looks to be extremely frustrating.

The thing is they do not need to be an expert on Mustang, they just need to have general mechanic/engineering knowledge to carry out this kind of repair / replacement. So yes it is indeed shocking that they seem unable to not only perform a simple job but then actually check their own work.

Hi there

So after thoroughly cleaning the underside of the car last night and then jet washing that side of the engine bay this morning, to clear all oil. I drove to work and then onto Jaguar specialist which is a VAT registered garage and the guys who work there are super knowledgeable, they repair all cars and tackle everything, geo, engine rebuilds, full restorations of vintage cars, in short they just seem to be able to do anything and to an excellent level and there service is great, they put me on the ramp immediately and inspected for free. In short it is leaking badly, Ford have to fix it as they will only allow their dealership to work on it so in short they said give Ford hell because 7 weeks and still not done right is an embarrassment.

Arrived a XJK Specialist:

Up on the ramp:

Oil cooler inspected, bear in mind it was thoroughly cleaned, this is 15 miles of driving:

Oil is getting blown about so it is all up the side of the engine again, everywhere, what a mess, it is also dangerously close to the exhaust again:

So we cleaned it off again thoroughly because with oil being everywhere it was hard to tell if it was coming from oil cooler, the oil cooler pipes or even worse somewhere higher up.

So here is a video, yes it is like watching paint dry, very boring but it shows clearly where the leak is originating:

As you can see from the video the leak is coming from the cooler, if you watch closely you will even see it form a slight bubble. This in short means they have either installed gaskets wrong, re-used old gaskets or somewhere along the install of new oil cooler and gaskets the surfaces have not mated correctly or the install has being done incorrectly.

Fact also remains that this was very easy for myself and two independent garages to spot within minutes of being on a ramp, yet Ford did not spot this.

So where are we at? I've spoken to Ford UK and told them have angry and upset I am. After I put the phone down Bristol Street dealer principal range me because they had seen me vent my frustration on their facebook page, amazing how companies seem to react to Facebook post more so than anything these days.

This time I told them under no circumstances will the car be left with them and under no circumstances will they carry out work on my car unless I am present and witnessing everything they do.

They have agreed, I am going back to the dealership tomorrow at 10:30am, the new service manager will meet me, put me on a ramp and they shall witness and confirm what I have posted above, they will then take action.

I've told them I expect the parts to be order, I expect them to not take longer than a week and once those parts arrive I shall bring the car back and witness them carry out the repair and it will then remain on their ramp for 30 minutes engine running checking for leaks, no leaks I leave and am happy. I shall be expect another oil change I won't accept just putting the old stuff back in and I am not paying a penny. I shall then chase them over some form of compensation for essentially not being able to enjoy my car for two months which can either come int he form of money, free servicing, free parts (I need TPMS sensors for new wheels and oil) or a Focus RS for a long weekend.

In short I said I am sorry to say this but I've being a polite and calm customer for seven weeks and I am not willing to be Mr Nice Guy any more.

I completely understand your frustration Gibbo, you've been treated so badly! Especially seeing as you had to wait ages for the car, then to not be able to enjoy it for so long must be infuriating! I really have no faith in the car industry, no one seems to be able to deliver on a promise anywhere!

Good good, sounds like you have it all in hand. So long as you stay logical and factual then it will be hard for them to argue against you and not cater to your requests.

This would literally be the do or die moment for me though, if they fail in any way over these requests and in the repair then that would be me done and dusted with the car/Ford.

How many times have Ford tried to resolve this issue? If it's 3 times or more you have the right for a brand new replacement vehicle.

I'd be careful with just slapping a load of RTV in there. Once it sets it can break off inside and cause clogging (as someone else mentioned previously).

If this is a design fault, then the best way to seal it is by means of an o-ring, but you'd need a machine shop to do that for you. It'll never leak again, though!

When my F430 was in the dealer, outside of warranty no less, they kept my car for 4 weeks total. This was for an entirely new gearbox, clutch, differential and headers. Ferrari paid for every cent of that repair, despite being years out of warranty, and totaling over $80k.

Additionally, they gave me a free servicing coupon worth $2000, and $2000 worth of accessories/merchandise.

Now that to me, is going above and beyond, so it will be interesting to see if Ford do anything at all. My gut feeling is no, or something pathetic.

I'd already have that car traded in personally. :(

Gibbo you've gone the right way about it. What a utter joke of a dealer. If the problem carries on are you able to give the car back or not? As in get a refund or another one?

If the dealership (new service manager, started yesterday) fails to solve the issue I shall push Ford very hard to cover the bill of me getting it done myself by a garage I trust.

This is a simple repair job, there is not a problem with the engine or electrical gremlin its just a simple repair gone wrong and taken too long. Just driving the car today, albeit at low speeds is why I enjoy it so much because even at low speeds it is still fun and such an event to drive.

I've got to also say the MPSS have done only around 30 miles but wow what a shocking improvement over the Pzero even in the dry, better ride comfort and turn in just seems superb. No idea what rear grip is like because I am not pushing the car under power, but am enjoying turning it into corners and the improved ride comfort.

Hi there

Anyway, I did wash the car last night and the we have glorious sunshine. To be frank I am blown away by the new wheel colour, I was hoping it would look better and though I say it myself it looks awesome and completely suits the car. The few people who have seen the car so far have all said wow that wheel colour was made for your cars paint work, even the metallic flick matches the paint, in the sunlight they look totally awesome, even now wondering if I need to change my wheels at all.

I've also noticed the MPSS tyres have a wider footprint, the tyres bulge more and seem to fill the arches better, the stance and overall look I think is now absolutely spot on, she looks gorgeous and now the chrome really works well on the car.

I took some pictures, unfortunately I did forget to bring my proper camera but its a modern phone so they came out pretty good. :)

Last is a closeup where you can see some of the metallic fleck in the wheel, hard to pickup in natural light with a camera, but in person it is lovely without being over the top. :)

I love the way car looks, I will be pleasantly shocked if my new wheels can improve upon this.

Only Ford dealership that I hold in high regard is Tarnock. They were excellent when they did my cam timing from start to finish. If I need anything big doing i will take it there. They're also the closest Mountune Pro dealer to me.

What a shambles Gibbo...7 weeks...

What a joke. It'd be more understandable if there was some bizarre, intermittent, deep-rooted fault but for something so simple to drag on so long? Ridiculous.

Good. DP needs to own this, he needs a clear view on what you expect and he needs to sign up to it. Last chance and if they get this wrong straight into a senior executive at Ford and social noise.

Andy Barratt MD of Ford was mailed weeks ago and social is now started but only at stage 1, which is where it shall remain for now. If all goes well then I shall back off, if they somehow screw this up further I am going to unleash hell on them, my job position and contacts in the market mean making some noise is very easy and I am owed a few favours. :)

Hopefully will not come to that, hoping the dealership will sort this to my satisfaction.

Well fingers crossed for you.
Btw...I was a voter to keep the wheels as they were. However I must say they look great now. Good choice!
