Need £1100 Max Spec

Have you tried applying a bit of pressure against the pump head? could actually be something else rattling like the motherboard if the screws are not tight?

You can try Intel Stock Cooling Fan for now if you were sent that water cooling kit back to OCUK and make sure no overclocking (on intel stock fan until you get a replacement)

Sorry to hear it mate. Must be unlucky. I am sure you will sort it out. I off to bed now as my pc now stable after running prime95 blend 8 hours all this evening on my next step level 4.9GHz overclocked at 1.39vcore @ 70C! Done 4.6 and now done 4.9. Night mate :)

some people are saying that the cooler sound disappeared for them after 2 days or so, so i think i will wait.

i ran prime95 for 1 hour and max temp using CoreTemp on an individual core was 52C and this is at Stock. I am not sure if that temp is good or bad... what do you guys think? bear in mind this is just at stock..

what temps do you guys reckon i should expect if i OC to 4.4? and do u recommend or OC'ing or shall i stay at stock?

At 4.4ghz a figure of around 65degrees.

And overclocking with that board is easy, do it yourself or just pick from one of the preset values 4.0-4.8ghz from the selection box in the BIOS.

ah cool thanks, these new SB cpus go up and down in speed when required. when i overclock will it stay constant 4.4ghz? is there a way to turn that system off? and do recommend turning it off?

thanks

4.4 is around between 63C and 66C

3.4 stock speed idle 23C 21C 25C 25C under load 45C 43C 47C 47C (room temp is 22C)

Thats right, speedstep, leave it on if you want, will save electricity.

If you watch CPU-Z it will say 1.6ghz, if you open up say Prime95 in the backround it will jump to the figure you picked 4.4ghz.
