Need a little help...

just a standard psu, 230w, previous one in it was a 1000w so the button under the board?

There's a Clear CMOS button on the back I/O Panel, so just press that a few times and see what happens. If it doesn't clear the CMOS it is possible that the facility is disabled, but it'll tell you how to enable it in the manual.

Did you get the little BIOS LCD screen that comes with the motherboard? If you did plug that in and see if it gives any error codes.

That PSU may not be enough to power the system tbh, and trying to power it with it may actually cause a fault somewhere due to being underpowered.

Up to you but I wouldn't bin it just yet as it might be working properly and it's just too weak a PSU. Stick it on a shelf or in a box somewhere and wait to see if you get a chance to test it with a decent PSU.

They were good motherboards in their day :)

Exactly in there day...Not now ;)

But dont think il get hold of another psu to be honest, as I dont want to buy one in case it dont work

Yeah, getting long in the tooth, I still use one of its relatives mind, bit behind the times myself. Still, seems a bit of a waste if there's a possibility it might be working, do you not know anyone who could test it for you?

Take the watch battery out on the mobo and leave it for a few hours, then put it back in and try again, i had a striker extreme board, dunno if its the same bios but mine was very twitchy, had to leave it to reset for ages. Asus suggested this dodgy way of resetting, seemed a bit daft, but ya had to power down remove all cables and cards from the board, set the enable clear bios switch jumper to the on position, then press and hold the clear bios switch for a minute or so, then let go and it locks it in the clear position, then remove your battery, leave it for a few hours, then replace the battery, press and release the clear switch, then put it all back together again. Was a bit of a carry on but saw comments on the forums of people saying it worked for them.

The button on the back can be disabled so you're going to have to read the manual to find out if it's enabled or not before you can determine if resetting the CMOS via the button is doing anything.

But BluD has experience with a similar motherboard so I'd have a go at what he suggests also.

The no-name PSU is a possible culprit though, whatever the power rating of it is.
