Yer the graphics were quite nice, but i got bored of this very quickly. Im playing Kane and Lynch atm, and getting the same impression ! uh oh.

found out what one of the main problems is with this game, the XBox 360 pad. For some reason EA have never really supported the pad very well on the NFS series and the controls are usually far too twitchy.

The same applies here, with the default (updated) drivers from MS, the car is all over the bloody road and there is no rumble support. With the XBCD drivers, the controls are much tighter and it is much more playable. Problem with the XBCD Drivers is that games that support the 360 controller natively (Lost Planet, Crysis, Dirt etc) lose their settings and so you can't play them properly instead. Other racing games such as Race07 and TDU don't support rumble either unless you use the XBCD drivers so it's an annoying trade off really.

Having said that, I still don't believe that this game is worth modding the drivers for as it's still pretty laggy despite a reasonable frame rate. It either needs some major patching or just forgetting about altogether.

The demo is unplayable on my system due to the abysmal framerate.

A64 X2 [email protected], 7900GT@550/765 and 2GB of DDR@208. Far from cutting edge, but not too shabby and well over the minimum specs. The demo is way below playable framerates at 640x480, no AF, bilinear filtering and low or at most medium settings for everything else. It looks much worse than NFS:MW with those settings as well, unsurprisingly considering the settings I played NFS:MW at.

Also, either I am suddenly abysmal at driving games or the handling is much more difficult on this one. I totalled the car several times in the demo, although the unplayable framerate certainly didn't help on that.

Based on the demo, I won't be buying the game. Shame, I liked the idea.

Oh well, I'm having fun with Colin McCrae 2004 that I picked up for a fiver.

It jerks for me aswell.. specs are in my sig.. Its worse when theres lots of cars on the track.

I even got a clean install of XP and overclocked my 8600GT to 600mhz and overclocked cpu to 2.8Ghz.
I looked in task manager and it maxxed out both my cores.

It ran on my brother's 8800GTS 320MB, 4GB ram, intel quad core pc with slight jerks at max settings though.

It seems you need a very meaty cpu and gpu to run this :(

Edit: I was running on some of the lowest settings.

i just installed the demo to see what it like.
now i have a 360 wireless, and vista installed a update, the pads kool, works a treat with toca 3 etc.
now, with prostreet i'm driving along and the car will decide to turn, well more like veer off in either direction on its own.... is this something anyone else has experienced? can it be expected in the full game?

cheers

It's down to EA and their inability to put proper gamepad support in the game. I got it as well, means I have to calibrate the controller every time I ran the demo.

I don't play it much now as it is very repetitive and every race day looks the same with slightly different tracks despite in different location. And I'm confused about having different blueprints for the same car as well, can you change the property of the car (grip, drag, drift...etc) or something? Graphics is not bad though.

The controls are very poor, especially when using a 360 pad. Best bet is to use the xbcd drivers but then you lose the default 360 support in games that actually support it properly. (DiRT for example).

well, in that case its going in the recycle bin, would use the old xbcd with my old xbox wired pad, but theres no variable on the triggers ever which is a killer with anytrack in any game with corners.

is dirt any good? looking for some nice racing games for PC.

DiRT is pretty good but is rather resource hungry so expect to have to turn off the pretty stuff to get it playable. The cars tend to stop a bit quickly for my liking especially seen as most of the time you're off road but it's quite enjoyable.

i find this game best on my Wii, PC version is crap! but when playing it on me Wii yes i do loose some looks but it plays so great!!

well the game is out already in ireland anyway i was hoping it would be good as they promised more customization. went in to customize a car only 3 bumpers LOL cant change car headlights... well game looks good crashes alright could be done better as the roof does not mangle when you flip over like 100 times the game play get really boring really quickly theres no shortcuts in tracks there is no cops just driving the track and driving and driving...

what they should make is something like underground 2 with new engine of course add cops include free roam not take it away, include free roam in multilayer that people could make there own organizations in online play and more stuff...

so basically really disappointed in pro street

The game is pretty crap imho. Starting a race requires you to wade through a pointless array of modes, settings and other time wasting nonsense. I mean, all of it leads to essentially the same thing ... a god damned race!!! Why waste peoples time by including lots of mind numbing garbage before each race? Sure, there are diffferent types of races but they've all been pretty much the same since NFS: Underground save a few silly tagged on features like the tyre burning before each drag race.

Worst still, the graphics are nothing special and seem to be using the same engine as previous games. Seriously, don't bother with this and get NFS: Most Wanted, it's by far the best in the "new generation" of NFS games.
