Need for Speed Shift - Time Trial Championship ** Season 3 ** (Multiplatform)

Cheers guys. Much appreciated.

I agree Danny, 'Zytok Style' had a spoiling factor to it though it was good fun. I did manage a mid 19 driving a clean race, just couldn't manage the 18's so the Zytok style certainly gains ~a second.

I remember Road America from last season (I think) where Marine & I were battling it out at the top. We pushed each other to times even I didn't think were possible.

I know Marine loves 'The Ring' especially with the LP640. He's probably way ahead of all of us when it comes to the amount of laps needed to even get a decent lap time. Finding a balance with the tuning is a real pain due to the varied nature of this awesome circuit.

Out of slow corners under acceleration.

Corner EXIT Oversteer

Progressive (Gradual increase in oversteer as you apply throttle)
Soften Rear Sway (Anti Roll) bar
Reduce Rear Camber
Increase Rear downforce
Increase Rear Toe-in
Stiffen Rear Spring, Bumb & Rebound
Note - Remember Slow Bumb/Rebound = Driver input - Fast Bump/Rebound = Track conditions

Sudden (Car feels planted/settled during cornering phase then the Rear breaks loose suddenly)
Reduce Rear Bump stiffness
Reduce Rear Rebound stiffness
Reduce both Rear Bump & Rebound
Note - Rebound should be stiffer than the equivalent Bump

Sorry can't be more helpful, my gaming rig is playing up again so I've no idea what the McLaren F1 default settings are.

It's an excellent combo chronic86. Just got to get my gaming rig running so I can have a go.
About to re-install Win 7 again.

My machine lives.... for how long? Any one's guess.

Add more downforce until you grow accustomed to the car/track combo

Cheers Dan,
I can get in the low to mid 58's consistently now. My first lap is in the 59's.

Been playing with Shock settings to improve the rear end over bumps & stability exiting corners with no significant joy I'm afraid.

Lower your type pressures to 26.09, far left for both front & rear. It seems to help with the rear end a little.
Most important as you all I'm sure are aware is THROTTLE CONTROL & try & stay off the curbs.

I'll post a vid tomorrow if my rig holds up.

Cheers CK61938.
I'm preparing a vid of a full session.
Will post here when ready

Edit: My connection is running at half speed at the mo. Gonna take an hour or so.

Edit 2: My net connection is going up and down like a yoyo at the mo. I'll post tomorrow evening.

Nikaz, what time are you at just as you turn out of 12 canada corner heading towards thunder valley? I'm getting about 1:39 at best at the moment. I imagine you must be around 1:35 to 1:36?

1:34 if I understand you correctly. Just before the Grey curbing on the exit of Canada Corner.

Little tip for loading game quicker and bypassing intros.

1. Add -skipmenu to the Shift shortcut - right click the shortcut, click properties, edit the target line to read

"c:\where shift is installed\shift.exe" -skipmenu

This will remove the profile selection screen

2. Rename the file \languages\languages.bml to .bmx

This will remove the language selection screen

3. Rename the files \movies\Attract.bik and \movies\Franchise_Ident.bik to .bok

This will remove the EA and Shift intro movies .

Two button presses and you're there, ready for quick race selection. Works for me. :)

Yeah Cheers for those little snippets Merlin. Very useful.

Np, nikaz.

Yeah, I think just after that grey curbing, but even then, you'd be at about 1:36. Somehow I need to find a way to get to there about 3 seconds quicker.

I'm uploading the vid I promised yesterday now. Be ready to link in about 20 mins.
Sector 1 - 0:43.1
Sector 2 - 1:25.0
Sector 3 - 1:58.4

Carousel - Feathering throttle in 4th gear. Don't turn in too tight early in the turn (T-9). Bring the car in tighter for T-10 gradually applying full throttle still in 4th. You should be able to grab 5th just before the curbing on the left for T-11 'Kink'. Kink is taken in 5th gear FULL throttle.
Little tip for the 'Kink'. Get over to the left hand side by the curb. To avoid going wide on the exit, thus getting out the throttle, take a little of the grass on the right apex to make sure you don't run wide on exit. Of course the best line is just kissing the apex which you'll get with a bit of practise.
