As i have said im useing a 360 controller, ive always enjoyed driving games, So my question is do i invest in a steering wheel, does it make that much difference?

I cant see myself spending out for a G25, so whats best pound for pound wheel?

G25:D...my wife uses a saitek R660...she likes it but she only drives in grid demolition derby...i think her wheel is crap compared to my G25 though.....G25 under £130 from OCUK....i paid £160 odd for mine from OCUK!

lol, just went online and set up a race on this track, 2nd place was 22 seconds behind and 3rd didn't finish before the timer ended, guess that shows what a difference track knowledge makes!

I just tried this and even though i am a bit drunken:D...i won...easily:cool::D

Been watching this thread, total race noob but enjoying the challenge. Here's my first entry. I did make 54.5 before I realised I needed FRAPS installed to take screens. I reckon I could go below 54 but hats off to some of these times - any tuning tips gratefully received!

Plenty of downforce...foot to the floor and tennents super for the win...or 5th place so far!

Too add to Busa's excellent Tennents Super tuning tip you can try;

Decreasing the front and rear tyre pressures, I settle for 30 on both front and rear. If your looking for a lot more grip decrease to the minimum.

Set the front and rear ride height to maximum

Gearing.
Final Drive: Couple of clicks left from default, sorry can't remember the value off the top of my head
Gear 4: One click left
Gear 5: One click left
Gear 6: One click RIGHT (if using NOS)

Set downforce to 5 for both front and rear to start with then when you're keyed in on the corners try reducing front to 3 and rear to 4, my current setting.

Oh yes, nearly forgot. Switch to basic tuning and select the 3rd option and set the slider all the way left to oversteer. As I understand it it's a bug and the text should read understeer on the left not right. This will help to keep the rearend in check especially in RWD motors

Good luck

It's replay mode. When you complete your final lap wait for the game to update your profile points etc (you can skip obviously) and select Leaderboard (9 key on keyboard, right shouder button x360 pad). This shows your best legal lap time for the session you just completed. Also a replay is playing in the background so you can take a series of snapshots in this mode to prove your racing on the correct track i.e. Glendale West.

Anyway not sure if I can go any faster..

"lOTS OF iMAGES"

Ok ta for that . Never used the option and had tried a few things and could not replicate it .

The thing that annoys me most is you set the car up in simple mode ... Then go to advanced and the settings change and then go back to simple and the go back to default . So you cant set basic settings and just go to advanced and adjust ride height and tyre pressure .

Persil

OK thanks for the tips - just made a low 54 before reading this so will have another go tomorrow - what's the deadline on this challenge?

sry bout pic, installed fraps but cant take screenshots :( i'm on win7 any idea?

Im using Windows 7 and fraps, no problems, i did change the default screenshot button from F10 to F12 though, 'if' thats makes any difference?

The thing with settings is you have to go out to menu then back in again for the game to update.

My process;
1. Enter tuning, switch to simple mode (if needed) and change/ adjust settings.
2. Exit to menu & save profile
3. Go back to tuning switch to advanced mode and make changes.
4. Exit to menu & save profile.

It's important to do step 4 to update the game. I've found if you don't save your profile, when you start a race your settings are OK but if restart from the pause menu (after a crash, not happy with launch etc) your tuning settings revert to the previous save. This seems to happen to me anyway.

My 'Springs and Dampers' settings;

First 6 set to soft or short, fully left
Last 2 set to soft, fully left
One's in between kept at default.

Right I need help please. I've recorded a video using fraps. Now I've never uploaded a video to YouTube but I do know there's a 2gig limit. Can anyone recommend a convert tool to reduce the size (it's currently 3gig) but keep most of the quality that's compatible with YouTube? My uploads only 768k.

Thanks

I use "Windows live movie maker" for youtube videos, lets you edit your FRAPS videos and add music/transitions if needed, then when you are happy with the video it gives you a few options to save it as, including youtube video std definition and youtube video HD and the file sizes are WAY smaller than the FRAPS videos.

Oh, and its FREE!

See my link below for a very short demo, lol

Ahh at last in the 55's :)

Regarding Movies, it's too late now but xfires video capture works very well and also auto hosts it.

eg - not this was a bad example lap but I just wanted to prove concept :)
