I managed a sloppy 7.05 with the Zonda R and no tunning.. so 6.51 with the GTR works, is deff out of my reach.
Just on that long stretch.. it goes up to 295Km.h and only 265 with the nissan.

About the stock car.. I know what you mean..,
cause it is easy to revert to previous setup.. instead of just keep pushing it.
Finding the limits on default is an essential step.

I start by adding plenty of downforce.. finding a good suspension setup
and then gradually removing it again..

but I am now stuck at 2.20.500, 2.20.700, 2.20.200
If I take more off.. I tend to skid off the track.. and they are a few bumps that if I hit by mistake.... they send me flying off..

What Driving Model have you chosen in the Game Settings? Try Normal or Experienced if you're not using already. Turn OFF Stability Control & Traction Contol, they'll only slow you down. And use MANUAL GEARS.
Remember this track requires very little downforce to achieve fast times.
 
I am using experienced,
yes stability control is off
and traction control I change it depending the car.. from low to full...
there is no way for example I can drive the corvete works with traction off.
the rear just keeps dancing all over the place.

I still haven't fully set the pedal..
with the brake I am set.. but with the acceleration... it doesn't give me the control I want.
above half way it 's like it is fully pressed..

I'll try fine tune it later on..

so when is the championship ending.. I read somwhere Saturday 6pm. Is that still the case?

This is Week 10, the last week of the current season which ends tomorrow 'Sunday Midnight'.
Season 2 will start TODAY @ 6.00 pm. So a little overlap during the change over. From then on Saturday 6.00 pm if that suits majority.

the idea behind that is so everybody can have a long Sunday on the new track?
I would prefer to move the deadline a few hours.. lets say.. around 8-9-10pm
In which case or you are out for Saturday night? or if you stay home.. u are left with the new track for some late night gameplay.

But indeed... Saturday does seem better.

On another note..
by setting the acceleration pedal to 0% sensitivity.. gave me better control.. and a second down :)

That's the idea behind the time change. Gives you Saturday too improve your time & Sat night, Sun onwards to have a go at the new weeks challenge. In previous weeks most of the times were posted Sunday night.
6pm has two votes so far making it the current choice.
 
First time for ages i have managed a lap, best car-track combo weve done (although ST + Donnington) was good.

I agree with this - maybe something in the thread title making it clear its a new season and welcoming in anyone who might want to join in from the start - I imagine there was a few who didn't bother once season 1 was well underway and we could do with some more numbers..

It's Season 2 in the sense that Pete (the thread starter) no longer wishes to continue maintaining the thread, so we're going to keep the thread going with me updating the Leaderboard as lap times are posted.
Regarding the title of the thread, only a mod can edit that, yes?

Hey NIKAZ - I was thinking more along the lines of a brand new thread for season 2 - it's not that important and you have the keys, so whatever you think and whatever is easier for you mate. :D
 
Need for Speed Shift - Time Trial Championship Season 2

Welcome to Season 2

Rules:

  • To avoid any cheating, the car can be tuned and upgraded to whatever you want. (Unless a 'Stock', 'Reward' or 'Loaner' car is chosen)
  • Proof of the lap time will be provided in this thread by either screen shot (e.g. Fraps on PC) or camera shot for console users. This means that this tournament is open to all versions of the game on either PC or console.
  • Screen shots must be taken at the end of the session. Lap times will not be included from mid race as these times show illegal lap times where corner cuts may have been taken.
  • Lap must be set in Time Attack mode.
  • The highest ranking driver on the Leaderboard WITHOUT a nomination gets to choose the next Weekly Event Car/Track Combo. If for whatever reason the highest applicable driver cannot make a nomination in time, then the second highest ranking drivers' nomination will take effect & so on. Nominations will be made by e-mail to myself no later than 5pm Saturday. This is because people are eager to start playing and any delays are just plain irritating.
  • There is/are NFS Shift real mod(s) available for PC. THIS/THESE WILL NOT BE ALLOWED. Console users will be disadvantaged by there use, so DON'T USE THEM PLEASE.
  • Remember we're here to have fun with a challenge thrown in for good measure

In addition to the Weekly Events there's a Bonus Event running alongside. This particular event is immune to deadline so will continue to run as long as this thread stays alive. Yeah, you guessed it THE NORDSCHLEIFE.
  • You can use any car you like be it from Tier 1, 2, 3, or 4.
  • You're welcome to participate in both the Weekly & Bonus Events or just pick & choose the Event(s) that suits you.
  • The Leaderboards for the Weekly Events will remain separate to the Bonus Event

If some of us cant post the car and track combo on a sat (i work from 7 till 7 :( ) but it is our turn to, mind if we pm it to you in advance on a friday night only for the combo to be allowed providing no one takes the top spot between posting and 6pm sat night?

shall we say it must be sent via pm after 8pm on a friday night?



EDIT: I bet NIKAZ has already done a 1.42.000 on this new track lol

Yeah coming to think of it that's probably the ideal. Nothing is set in concrete regarding the above rules.

I want the current posters to this thread to make suggestions, it's OUR set of Rules & Regs as far as I'm concerned.

e.g It doesn't have to be the Winner that gets to choose. Maybe we can come up with some other way, I dunno Last place, first person to post after 6pm Sat or I nominate someone to pick at random so we all get a go at choosing.

Ideas like that, just chuck 'em out there & we can discuss their merits and/or pitfalls.
 
How about the person in first chooses car/ track. But after 3 consecutive wins they have to pass the nomination to a random, so this then means one person can rack up the points but the nominations are spread between us all.

The problem is nobody has managed three wins on the trot in the whole of season 1. Even if I win Week 10 that's 2 on the trot for me.
Tweaking you're idea, how about winner picks. Then if the same person wins the next week they pass to a random.
We could have a table showing who has & hasn't had a nomination. The highest up the Leaderboard who hasn't had a pick gets to choose.
