^ Need for Speed Shift ^

is this some kind of joke? why on earth would the console version look better..

No its not a joke.
E.g. go and see FIFA10 on the PC which has been dumbed down (using the FIFA09 engine) compared to the console version which have new graphics, supposedly. AND its an EA game. So its quite a valid question to ask imho.

Furthermore, the visuals on the PS3 and 360 are quite literally stunning, and it makes me wonder if the PC is still capable of more than what the console versions have achieved.

And finally, for some reason PC racers have never looked as good (generally) compared to racers on consoles. Up to now, I cannot recall a game on the PC which has the same level of detail/lushness to that of the likes of Forza 3 and GT5. (well perhaps GRID but tbh I never played it and lets face it, its more of an arcade game than wanabe sim right?)

The pc is still MUCH more capable than any console.

PC gamers dont cary about shiny objects, they want realism e.g. GTR EVO, GTR 2, rFactor etc...

Yes I agree and didnt say otherwise if you read my post.

What I am asking is will the PC version of NFS look better/worse than the console versions (graphically) ?

I hope i sense sarcasm... If not you might want to stick to the console section ;)

lol

If its just a port, the PC will have higher res graphics rather than the consoles scaled low res textures.

If it was sarcasm I would be using some smileys.

I love my racers on the PC, I play plenty of rfactor and GTR but I know that non of them look as lush as those on consoles.

Can you name me a racing game which looks better say than the likes of Forza 3 or GT5? (I am just talking about visuals here, forget about the simulation aspect for a sec since that is not what I am asking about!!!)

This is the origin of my original question. Which will be the better looking version, PC or consoles?

rumour has it the pc version limited to 30fps, madness if true

And people are asking if I was joking when I asked which version of the game will look better.
Although I dont believe it will be locked to 30fps personally.

If its a good and faithful port, the PC will have higher res graphics rather than the consoles scaled low res textures.

Corrected

well this seems to be the standard mentality of console gamers who go for graphics over content.

gameplay > graphics.. Grand Prix 2 > Any console racer in history

Yes GP2 was the daddy, man how I lost endless weeks perfecting my Monza setup in that game :)

But I am discussing graphics in a game common to multiple platforms. (The simulation aspect is constant since its the same game and presumably will have the same physics engine on all next gen platforms).

I.e. NFS Shift and which platform will be more appleable to play on since I have a PC and PS3 and will get the game but dont know which platform to play it on :)

PC hardware is far, far ahead of current console tech, there will never be a time when the PC can't keep up with a console. Even if it shares all the same assets, image quality is going to be whatever you want it to be on the PC.

This is an isolated incident within the Fifa series (maybe PES too?). It is not a reflection of the state of PC gaming, 99% of the time the PC ends up with the better looking version. There is absolutely no reason to question the PC version as the superior version (aesthetically).

well yeah. technically thats exactly what the definition of leaked is xD haha. thought it would appeal to 90% of the people on this forum thts all. haha
/sigh

anyways back on topic.... im going to have to say the PC version will be the best because a) Higher resolutions 1920*1200 upwards compared to whatever is it 1280*720 on console ? b) full screen AA etc etc so no jaggies c) my G25 wheel is > console controllers **although PS3 can use a G25** and lastly d) i said so :p

It has nothing to do with the capabilities in the examples you gave as those games are not available on the PC to compare and more to do with graphic skill of the programmers involved in those games.

Nearly every game that is available for both platforms look better on the pc than on the consoles.
