So...

What cars are we using?
How good are they around Laguna Seca?
And what peripherals most folk using?

That feels more on topic don't you think? :)

I have never seen a racing car power slide around every corner in real life, hmmm

If you tune the car properly then it doesnt drift around the corners. All of the default setups are complete rubbish. Have a fiddle and you'll find that it starts handling more like a proper race car (or how I think a proper race car handles).

Just me tooling around in a slippery Impreza trying to find some off-road, rally-style action.

I still think this sim has a huge amount of potential. It needs the gaminess toning down a bit to get any wider acceptance among the simming community, and probably needs some additional aids for gamepad users, putting it in a difficult spot in the game world. But I find it incredibly entertaining to drive (some of the cars anyway), and I guess I'm trying to capture that, and also illustrate the potential for the physics engine, with the movies I make.

That game is not even close to a sim.

I've driven iRacing quite a lot this year. I drove GPL for many years. I own just about every PC sim ever sold. So I hope I'm not totally insane. :-)

Everyone has their own idea about what simulating the racing experience is though. That's about the only certainty in this hobby.

Favourite car so far is the tier three exige s, with a little upgrading it really does stick like glue.
Having obsessively played GT for years I know Laguna Seca extremely well, that doesn't make it an easy track though; the corkscrew is always a bit of an adventure :D
I'm using the Logitech Driving Force Pro - originally bought for GT4 but works really well on the PC as well. It's not quite up to the level of the G25 apparently but does the job for me

Managed to get a digital download for £16.25 yesterday (possibly from the same site that was involved in the "Blood Bowl gate" saga...

The duel invitational between the Ford GT (my car) and the Viper is the devil incarnate! I must have re-run the deciding race aver 50 times in "pro" mode before I had to let it go...

The default steering felt a lot nicer in 900 degrees mode in the full retail, relative to the demo. Yet to try any of the tweaks that are being released on a daily basis...

I wonder how long before a new patch comes out for this game? (ideally to sort out the stuttering issues)

i bet everytime they go to release a patch someone comes along and releases a new mini mod and voids the patch hehe doh. well maybe not :)

soon i hope but not having any game stopper issues here.

Think its just an Nvidia problem and I've got a 280GTX. Although the game is still very much playable for me.

winxp sp3, gtx260 oc maxcore, 186.18 drivers, all gfx options on high, vsync off, 8xAS 4xAA 1680x1050. get about 45-80 fps depending on ammount of cars. no stuttering here.

AA set to enhance and multisample using "nHancer" util.
